Shelbourne junior parkrun
An overcast sky and perfect running/walking temperatures leant to another fantastic event at Shelbourne junior parkrun this morning. With our participant numbers going over the half century for the second consecutive week, we thought it might be easier to focus our run report on the smaller groups either side of the peloton.
Our front runners throughout were the impressive Caragh, Lily and Noah and they really pushed each other for every one of those two thousand metres! Noah pipped the other two on this occasion but needed to dig deep and match his PB to do so! Hats off also to Lily for her third consecutive PB. On that subject, no less than 17 of our budding athletes crossed the line with PBs today. Incredible!
A small number of our youngest participants were nestled just in behind the main group and looked like they, along with several parents, were having a ball throughout! Special mention to Mira and Róisín who persevered and never gave up, finishing their first of many parkruns. Bualadh bos 👏 👏
Shelbourne junior parkrun only ever happens through the work of our volunteers so it was a very welcome sight to see an increase in the number of those who contributed today. Thanks to all of you and to those of you who put your names in our little notebook for next week, we are very appreciative.
We look forward to seeing you all next Sunday.
Well done to all of our first time participants, you are all very welcome to Shelbourne junior parkrun 🏃♂️🏃♀️
We love our milestones at Shelbourne junior parkrun and this week we were lucky enough to have two to celebrate 🎉
Maith thú Tom on picking up your Half Marathon wristband! Tom captures the essence of parkrun every week by running with a wide smile at all times. 😁
Alex goes about his business quietly and contentedly every Sunday morning. Fantastic achievement for you Alex on completing a marathon of parkruns in less than a year 👏
Event #190, on Sunday 1st September, turned out to be another cracking event. Our 55 enthusiastic participants included 7 first timers, who we hope to see again in the coming weeks, and 8 new PBs. Well done to all of our young runners, you should be very proud of yourselves!
A special mention to the Doody family, visiting Shelbourne junior parkrun for only the second time, with all four siblings completing our 2.5 laps with ease, including Maeve & Diarmaid as first and second finishers on the day 👏 👏
With our increasing numbers of late, we remind all parents/guardians that we are on look out for some new volunteers to allow for extra marshals on the course. Along with our WhatsApp group and parkrun emails, we will now have a volunteer notebook with us each week, giving you all the opportunity to put your name down for one of the upcoming weeks. With that, go raibh míle maith agaibh to all who helped on Sunday, we are very appreciative of your ongoing support.
Looking forward to seeing you all again this Sunday as we begin the countdown to our 6th birthday and 200th parkrun in the very near future 🏃♀️🏃♂️
Dreary, wet conditions on the north side of Limerick did not deter the crowd at Shelbourne Park yesterday morning. Our regular crew of budding athletes, along with several newcomers to our parkrun, were out in force for their weekly 2km fix.
Céad míle fáilte to our first timers Ailbe, Nicholas and Ruairí, we hope you enjoyed your first visit to Shelbourne junior parkrun and that you left with an appetite to return. This week we would like to give a special mention to Bobby, Fiadh, Jules & Shane who completed their 2.5 laps of the park with a smile and a new PB!
Yesterday’s event was made possible by the work of 13 volunteers, including Ailbe, Caoilfhionn, Gareth & Nemone who were visiting us from Rosslare Harbour. We express our heartfelt gratitude to all our volunteers for their time and efforts.
See you all next Sunday for event #190 🥳
Another glorious morning in Shelbourne Park last Sunday, 18th August. Well done to all of our 48 fantastic young runners and walkers who participated, not to mention the committed moms, dads and volunteers!
Special mention goes to our milestoners. This fantastic five completed 2 marathons and 3 half marathons between them! Aoibhinn, Ciarán & Oisín have completed 11 parkruns each, the equivalent of a half marathon for each of them!Meanwhile Bobby & Paddy crossed the line on Sunday to complete their marathon of parkruns!! Keep up the good work guys and start working towards your next amazing milestone and new wristband 👏
We look forward to seeing you all Sunday morning to do it all again 😀
