Congratulations to Ben Roche BA(Hons) Culinary Arts year 4, and Aoife O'Reagan, BA (Hons) Hospitality Management Year 2, working with French students from Lycée Savary, Arras, were crowned winners of the French Embassy/Tirlán - 'Cook Serve' Strand 2 competition at FICAHT (French-Irish Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism network) in MTU, Cork.

Very well done to students Zhasmin Babaieva Higher Cert Culinary Arts Year 1, and Benedek Csonka, Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality Services, Year1, for the Level 6 and 7 competition but who were unfortunately pipped at the post on this occasion.

It was also great to catch up with past graduates of the program Rachel and Philip who are now on the management team. A big thank you also for providing complimentary hospitality to our students. SETU Waterford are offering three Springboard courses. Restaurant Management, Culinary arts, and Plant based cookery. The programmes are designed so that applicants can continue to work while gaining a qualification. These are hybrid courses so they offer a mix of online and on campus learning. The courses are open to those who are currently working in the hospitality industry, career changers or to those who wish to embark on a career in the industry.
To those who are working the course has 90% funding. The remaining 10% cost amounts to approximately €590 per student depending on the programme.

Thank you to Mr Edmond Flynn GM of Faithlegg House Hotel & Golf Club and his team who hosted our BA(hons) in Hospitality Management Year 3 students as part of their Seminar Series module giving them a very knowledgeable, insightful and applied talk on the role of a General Manager. The students were kindly offered the experience of afternoon tea during their visit. The collaboration with Faithlegg House Hotel and our Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary department at SETU Waterford is very much valued.
