A 32-year-old with Celphos poisoning brought in an extremely critical state, gets a new lease of life at Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad.
The state-of-the-art critical care center, with round-the-clock availability of senior critical care physicians, access to experts from all disciplines, and modern medical equipment, combined with uncompromising care, revived the patient from multi-organ failure.
In yet another feat, the team at Shree Krishna Hospital saved the life of a 32-year-old man who was brought in a medically hopeless condition to our trauma care. Fantastic teamwork, efficient and timely VA-ECMO administration, through-and-through medical care, and excellent rehabilitation paved the way for a normal life for the patient despite the deadly complications he was brought to us with.
The patient had reportedly ingested Celphos tablets which are known to be extremely poisonous and have irreversible toxic effects. He was taken to a local medical facility at Khambhat, where he was given primary care. But his condition started deteriorating and he got hypotension (a medical state when blood pressure dropped significantly) and blood circulation was compromised which intensified the seriousness of his condition. The physician there advised the family members to immediately shift him to Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad. On the patient’s arrival, he was immediately shifted to the ICU and administered essential critical care treatment. Our experts decided to utilize VA-ECMO support in addition to intubation and ventilatory care. In a matter of three hours of time of Celphos ingestion, the patient was kept on ECMO support at Shree Krishna Hospital. Within 15-16 hours of ECMO initiation, the patient began to regain consciousness while on the ventilator. This action saved the patient from highly possible cardiac arrest while the toxic material was removed from his body. Gradually patient’s heart functioning was safeguarded and improvement was visible in the next 36 hours.
Now that the patient’s hemodynamic condition stabilized and heart condition showed promising improvement, it was essential to remove ECMO support to prevent further complications. The team of Vascular surgeons and Anesthesia were roped and the patient was weaned off ECMO after 40 hours of initiation. However, this was not enough, due to severe Hypotension patient’s renal failure was the next challenge. Thankfully, the team of Nephrologists efficiently managed the situation with multiple sessions of hemodialysis.
The patient is in a safe state today. This has been possible due to the timely intervention of a team of experts from various departments who worked tirelessly, and cohesively with a singular determination to save the young life and hope of a desperate family.
Such victorious tales of hope are chronicled regularly at Shree Krishna Hospital due to the heroic stances of its team of caregivers. Kudos to the forerunners: the Critical Care team, Nephrology Team, Vascular Surgeon, Anesthesia Team, and Dr. Vishal Sardhara from the ECMO team. The ENT department, Surgical Department, Physiotherapy Team, and Dietitians also played a pivotal role in facilitating a faster recovery. And a special mention to Dr. Jitesh Desai, Medical Superintendent, Shree Krishna Hospital, Dr. Samir Patel, Head- of Critical Care, Operations Team, and the entire team of Critical Care Center who have relentlessly worked to save this life, besides the admirable work they regularly do.
Today, on , we raise awareness about the silent killer affecting millions worldwide. At Shree Krishna Hospital, we're committed to promoting heart health and offering expert care to manage hypertension. Let's work together to lower the pressure and prioritize our well-being!
Organ Donation at Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad.
First Organ Donation at Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad
Organ donation is the highest expression of humanity. Many times, unfortunately, people who get into accidents only suffer brain injuries, while the rest of the body organs are completely intact. When the brain injury is very severe, the brain stops working completely and there is no room for improvement. This condition is called a "brain-dead" state. In this condition, the patient is gradually dying. In this situation, if vital organs like the kidney, liver, heart, and lungs are retrieved from the body on time, they can be transplanted into the body of other patients who need these organs. This kind gesture can save as many as seven lives with the help of organs donated by one dying person.
A few days ago, an 81-year-old elderly was admitted to Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad following a very serious brain injury. After all possible treatment efforts, seeing no room for improvement, the patient's wife and the entire family were sensitized by the hospital about organ donation to which the entire family agreed. Following this, a team of expert doctors from Ahmedabad IKD Hospital came and removed the liver and two kidneys from the patient's body and immediately left for Ahmedabad. Within no time the transplant surgery for two kidneys in one patient and a liver in another patient took place at Ahmedabad. The body of the deceased was respectfully handed over to his family. A dying man gave the gift of life to two patients.
Society will always be indebted to such rare human beings who, by performing good deeds during their lifetime, enlighten many lives even at the time of death. His final days will be a guide and inspiration to every person in the society that he can follow.

45-year-old Yemeni patient with balloon-like swelling in the cerebral artery wall was successfully treated at Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad
Jalal Abdul Rahman Ahmad Abdo, 45, from the island of Socotra in the Republic of Yemen, had difficulty walking and speaking, as well as writing. He experienced constant head pain. Despite undergoing necessary tests in distant Egypt, treatment there was not trusted. However, influenced by the positive outcomes of a previous patient from Socotra treated at Shree Krishna Hospital, and with guidance from a student studying at Bhaikaka University, Jalal Abdul Rahman Ahmad decided to seek treatment at Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad.
He underwent assessment by Dr. Shibashish Bhattacharji, a neurosurgeon in the hospital's neurosurgery department. Dr. Shibashish reviewed brain MRI results and angiography reports, which indicated the presence of balloon-like swelling in the brain's blood vessels. Due to the complexity of the condition, endovascular neurosurgeons, Dr. Sandeep Shah from Ahmedabad and Dr. Suresh Nayak from Vadodara, were called in. Under Dr. Shibashish's supervision, they successfully implanted a load diverter stent via endovascular treatment to address the balloon-like swelling in the brain's blood vessel wall.
According to Dr. Shibashish, the patient's condition stemmed from a balloon-like swelling in a brain blood vessel wall, leading to blood clots and increased pressure on the brain. This manifested as difficulty in walking and speaking, necessitating wheelchair assistance. Post-treatment, the patient regained independence in daily activities and showed promise for improvement in speech over time.
A relative of the patient expressed confidence in Shree Krishna Hospital's ability to provide proper treatment, citing the doctor's clear explanation of the treatment process and the availability of translation services, which facilitated effective communication of their needs.
