Today President Mr. Stafford Mantel, Mr. Satish Senior Vice President and Mr.Santhosh Committee member visited St.Mary's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Parrys, Chennai, and had a good time with the members of the past pupils association. We have given them some guidelines, procedures and inputs in order to achieve greater heights. Thanks to the Unit Delegate Rev. Dr. Fr. Thomas Maria Raj, President Mr. Ashok, Treasurer Mr. Santhosh, and their team members.

The Chennai Provincial Federation of Don Bosco past pupils had their council meeting and election today 14.04.2023 at the Don Bosco Egmore unit.

The meeting starts with the mass, followed by the past pupils' prayer by Mr. Mohammed Shadaan, the hosting unit secretary, and a welcome by the hosting unit president, Mr. Sujit Tharakan.

Outgoing President Mr. J. Satish welcomed them on behalf of the province committee, and he also thanked the council for their support during his tenure.

Rev. FR. Xavier Packiam, hosting unit delegate, blessed the outgoing committee and congratulated the outgoing president, Mr. J. Satish, for his leadership during his tenure.

The minutes of the last council meeting was presented by the secretary, and the accounts was presented by the treasurer. The council accepted and adopted the same.

The provincial delegate presents his words of appreciation to the outgoing president and his team. He also felicitates the outgoing committee members with the ponnadai, as a token of love and affection. He also honored the outgoing president, Mr. J. Satish, with an award for his selfless sacrifices and outstanding service as Province President from 2013–2023.

The provincial delegate informed council members about the election rules. He also announced the election results as follows. Since there was no more than one entry for any post, the following members were elected unanimously:

President Mr. Stafford thanks all the members for selecting him as the new president of the INM Past Pupils.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by the new secretary, Mr. Rose Kumar, followed by the closing prayer by the province delegate, K. J. Arulraj.

Today Province Executive committee meeting at DB Egmore.

The DB Egmore GCC COVID Care Centre is a joint initiative of Don Bosco School Egmore, DB Past Pupil doctors, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), DBPPA Egmore, and various past pupil batches of DB Egmore. With collaboration from various sectors, the team set up a 104-bed (with oxygen concentrators) COVID Care Centre at Don Bosco School, Egmore, to supplement the ever-increasing demand for oxygen beds in the city.
The Government of Tamil Nadu had encouraged institutions to come forward to partner with the Greater Chennai Corporation to deal with the alarming COVID spread. The need is great, and hospitals are overwhelmed. And DB Egmore responded to cater to the needs of the people of Chennai.

The inspection and inauguration of the Centre were done on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 10.00 a.m. by Honourable HR & CE Minister, Govt of Tamil Nadu Mr PK Sekar Babu, Honourable Member of Parliament from the Chennai Central constituency Mr Dayanidhi Maran, DMK MLA from the Egmore constituency Mr I Paranthamen, Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation Mr Gagandeep Singh Bedi, IAS and Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan, IAS.

During a press conference, the Rector and Correspondent DB Egmore Father Xavier Packia, SDB, briefed the gathering about the collaborative effort between DB Egmore, GCC and the past pupils in setting up the COVID Care Centre. The Honourable HR & CE Minister, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, Mr PK Sekar Babu, gave an overview of the COVID situation in the city and how the DB Egmore COVID Care Centre is a model and a landmark initiative of collaboration between the various stakeholders.

Today, 150 years since Carlo Gastini, together with other young people from the Salesian Oratory, delivered coffee cups to Don Bosco as a thank you for the education received and on the occasion of the feast day of St. John the Baptist. The solemn anniversary is both an occasion for a profound reflection on the meaning of the mission of Don Bosco's Past Pupil in the Salesian Family in the Church and in society today, and opportunities for launching numerous initiatives.
