Rama Sethu Ranga Nathan shared Parthiban Shanmugam's photo.Congrats The Space Research Organisation ( ) on Sunday successfully launched a geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle -- -D5 -- which used an indigenous cryogenic engine, putting behind it years of pain and failures. The launch vehicle lifted off from India's space port at precisely at 4.18 pm on a clear blue sky and delivered a copy book launch. The GSLV-D5 injected the -14, a 1,980 kg , at its precise orbit 17 minutes into the flight. It took ISRO more than 13 years to achieve this success after its first GSLV flight in 2001. ISRO kickstarted the cryogenic project almost 20 years ago.

Taking a giant leap in the world of science, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Tuesday successfully launched India's Mars mission, which is country's first inter-planetary space mission, from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. It gives me immense pleasure to communicate to you all after taking over the office of PSG Alumni Chennai Chapter. The new team is excited and looking forward to more activities. We are chalking out a plan to make the Chapter more active and participatory in more social, cultural and entertainment activities.

We have framed a new theme for the coming years. "Let connect together for Us and Others".
"Us" - Means for PSG Alumni and "Others" - For the Society.

As we go along, we will share the new vision for the Chennai Chapter and the activity calendar for the coming months.

We need all your support to make this a successful one. In less than two weeks, we will come up with a detailed plan on what we would be doing in the coming months. Kindly hold on until then.

The reason for jumping this email is, there is a huge Beach (Coastal) Clean up happening on June 16th. This is being conducted along with Chennai Trekking Club towards the World Environment day. Last time we had 2500 Participants cleaning up the whole beach. Imagine to have a cleaner beach and send a message to keep the environment clean and the contribution by PSGians. Be part of the history in this huge clean up act to leave a better environment for our future generations.

As we are speaking, we have close to 80 + Companies, NGOs, Schools on board totalling 5500 Volunteers. Come, be part of this epic clean up activity. End of the day, We need to clean up the mess we made.

We would request you to participate at Panayur near VGP Golden beach. We can provide transport for you from any location in the city.



We would provide garbage bags and gloves for the volunteers as well as breakfast/refreshments.

We just need your time from 6 am in the morning to 10 AM on 16th June. Kindly look forward for more details on this email in the coming hours.

10/10/2011: Renowned ghazal singer Jagjit Singh died in Mumbai early on Monday, more than a fortnight after he suffered a brain haemorrhage. He was 70.Singh was in critical condition after an operation at the Mumbai's Lilavati hospital on Sept 23. A hospital statement said Singh died at 8.10 a.m.

For five decades he conjured up magic with his music, sang ghazal like a human breathes, Freed ghazal singing of its traditional complexities, took ghazal from class to masses, inspired thousands to learn Urdu for better appreciation of it, was gifted with a mystical, divine voice. The world of music has lost one of most precious gems, There is absolutely no doubt that Jagjit Singh with his unique composing and singing style was the worthiest torch-bearer of the survival of Ghazals in India. But maestros like him can never be dead..He will live in millions of heart. May God give peace to his soul and strength to Chitraji to bear this loss..Long Live the king of melodies…
