Recently i observed a surge in gall stone incidence in children. After thorough history taking and clinical evaluation no known risk factors were found except one child having strong family history of gall stones. The only common factor among these children was excessive consumption of junk food.
Keeping in view the findings of history, it is advised to restrict the consumption of junk food( trans fats) in children. Though there is no direct evidance, but junk food containing trans fats may be a contributory factor in genesis of gall bladder stone in children.
