A rose flower is a rose flower, there is no question of it being something else. And the lotus is a lotus. Neither does the rose ever try to become a lotus, nor does the lotus ever try to become a rose. Hence, they remain healthy because they live in their own nature.

And so it is with the whole existence, except humans. Only the person has ideals and shoulds. ‘You should be this and that’ – then you are divided against your own "is". Should and is are enemies.

And you cannot be anything other than what you are. Let it sink deep into your heart: you can only be that which you are, never anything else. Once this truth sinks deep, that ‘I can only be myself’ all ideals disappear. They are discarded automatically. And when there is no ideal, reality is encountered. Then your eyes are here-now, then you are present to what you are. The division, the split, has disappeared. You are one.

There is no point in working on the mind, as we have worked on nothing but the mind. And mind is too weak against the body.
First work on body. When body changes, then your breathing changes. As your breath changes, your thoughts can be changed. And when your thoughts change, then you can change.
Yoga Exercise to do alone: Sit in Ardhasiddhasana for 12 minutes in complete stillness, spine comfortably erect, with eyes closed. Now observe how the mind develops excuses to move when discomfort happens in the body. Just watch the thoughts, do not think about them.

There are many forms of fitness to choose from: pilates, zumba, boxing, strength-training, running, aerobics, etc.

What is it about Hatha Yoga that stands out from the rest?

Firstly, Yoga is not just about fitness. Fitness will definitely happen, but it has more to do with strengthening the mind. Yoga has a very holistic approach: it deals with the body, mind, emotions and consciousness, it is a complete approach.

Yoga is also for all ages - from birth to old age, yoga is appropriate. And fitness is required for the whole life, not just during youth.

Finally, it is very simple, it can be done anywhere, no equipment is needed, just spread a mat and do some asanas.

So Yoga is a much superior form of fitness, as it deals with all aspects of who you are. No other form of exercise is a requirement when yoga is taught to you accurately.

Throughout our whole life we need to manage our body, mind and emotions and only yoga can achieve this. I hope that every human learns some form of yoga and experiences a balanced and happy mind. 🙏

Watch the waves in the ocean. The higher the wave goes, the deeper is the wake that follows it. One moment you are the wave, another moment you are the hollow wake that follows. Enjoy both--dont get addicted to one. Don't say: "I would always like to be on the peak". It is not possible. Simply see the fact: it is not possible. It has never happened and it will never happen. It is simply impossible--not in the nature of things. Then what to do? Enjoy the peak while it lasts and then enjoy the valley when it comes. What is wrong with the valley? What is wrong with being low? It is a relaxation. A peak is an excitement, and nobody can exist continuously in an excitement.

Inner Circle Yoga+Pilates

The teacher, Sabina Dzafic, is a Level 3 Yoga teacher who has completed 900 hours of Yoga Teacher Training at The Yoga Institute (Mumbai, India). This is the oldest organised school of classical Yoga. She has also completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Byron Yoga Centre (Byron Bay, NSW). Additional education includes a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) at UQ (St Lucia, QLD), plus Matwork and Reformer Pilates certification (Studio Pilates International, QLD). By attending an asana class or a Yoga theory workshop at Inner Circle Yoga studio, you are exposed to the ancient wisdom of Yoga (the oldest science and unfortunately, in its most essential features, a forgotten science).
