Diwali Meet Rotary Club of Siliguri Green 23

Rotary Club of Siliguri Green and Rotary Club of Siliguri Medics in association with Doon Heritage School,Champasari, Siliguri organised its annual health project, 3rd Mega Health Camp and Blood Donation Drive on 24th September 2023.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Sandip Sengupta, Dean of Students’ Affairs, North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, Siliguri.
More than 200 beneficiaries were examined by the doctors from various disciplines including General Physician, Dentist, ENT, Dermatologist, Gynecologist and Orthopedic. The team from Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Hospital examined the beneficiaries and the patients requiring cataract treatment have been identified for further treatment. Blood sugar testing of the beneficiaries were conducted to identify patients with risk of diabetes, so that necessary precautions and lifestyle changes could be undertaken by the patients.
The team of Paul P. Harris Rotary Blood Bank, Siliguri collected the blood at the Blood Collection Drive.
Rtn. Abhishek Garg, President of Rotary Club of Siliguri Green and Rtn. Dr. Chavvi Kedia, President of Rotary Club of Siliguri Medics reiterated the commitment of Rotary International towards community health development. Principal of Doon Heritage School, Mr. Mohammad Issac expressed his satisfaction on successful completion of the camp and assured that the school would continue to collaborate with Rotary International in regularly organizing the camp. President-Elect and Project Chairman, Rtn. Pankaj Agarwal highlighted the mission of the club and acknowledged the support received from all the stakeholders in organising the camp.
The members of Rotary Club of Siliguri Green and Siliguri Medics with support of the teachers and staff of Doon Heritage School successfully organised the camp and all of them were happy to offer their services for the betterment of the community at large.

Members of Rotary Club of Siliguri Green participated in the flag hoisting ceremony of Murarligunj High School, Muraligunj. The Club President Rtn Abhishek Garg was given the Guard of Honour by the school students as he unfurled the National Tricolour on the occasion of 77th Independence Day Celebrations. Principal of the school Mr. Samsur Alam, thanked the club members for helping the school in constructing the toilet block for girls which was also inaugurated today. Later 77 saplings were also planted to mark 77 years of Independence by the club members . Also present were PP Rtn. Pankaj Garg, PP Rtn Vivek Saraf, IPP Rtn. Sandeep Sinhal, Club Secretary Rtn. Amit Mitruka, Rtn. Deepak Goel, Rtn. Amit Agarwal, Rtn. Sachin Khaitan, Rtn. Sumit Shah, Rtn. Pankaj Agarwal & Rtn. Gaurav Choudhury.The school students also presented a colourful dance programme.

Rotary Club of Siliguri Green with support of Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Hospital organised an Eye Screening Camp for School Children at Campion International School, Salbari, Siliguri on Tuesday 8th August, 2023. More than 300 students were screened and around 35 students were identified with need for Eye sight correction. These students will be provided the spectacles as per their needs. Also the support staff of the school were screened and many have been identified for eye sight correction. Club President Rtn. Abhishek Garg and Secretary Rtn. Amit Mitruka thanked the Dean of Campion International School, Mr. Noel Chettri for actively joining the Club in organising the camp in the school. Project Chairman President-Elect Rtn. Pankaj Agarwal thanked the team of Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Hospital, Siliguri for providing the technical support for the camp and screening the students and staff. Past Presidents Rtn. Pankaj Garg and Rtn. Bijay Agarwal were also present during the camp. Our club would be organising more such camps in future.

The 14th Installation Ceremony of Rotary Club of Siliguri Green was held at Hotel Hiland on 9th July 2023. Shri Dr. Abhijit Shevale, IAS , CEO SJDA graced the occassion as Chief Guest. Assistant Governor Shri. Gopal Kayan was the Guest of honour. The new team comprising of President Abhishek Garg, Secretary Amit Mitruka and Treasurer Sachin Khaitan took the batton from the outgoing team 22-23 President Sandeep Sinhal, Secretary Deepak Goel, Treasurer Rajesh Chachan. The changeover ceremony was attended by other Presidents & Secretaries of
other Rotary Clubs , Inner Wheel clubs & Rotaract clubs.

The report of the clubs last years activities were presented and also the plans and projects for next year were announced.

Rotary Club of Siliguri Green installed a Clean Drinking Water Cooler at Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus, Siliguri on 26th June, 2023. The project ‘NEER’ is supported by Rotary International District 3240 Foundation and will be maintained by North Bengal State Transport Corporation, Government of West Bengal. Past District Governor Rtn. Subhasish Chatterjee and President Rtn. Sandip Sinhal inaugurated and dedicated the water cooler for the use of the commuters. Rtn. Subhasish Chatterjee highlighted the need of clean drinking water at this location and acknowledged the support of the Club and the District in taking up this project. Club Secretary Rtn. Deepak Goel stressed on the need of more such projects while President Rtn. Sandip Sinhal assured that the Club would be taking more such projects in the near future.
