⬇️It is an official that rinsing with water is not enough to remove pesticides from the vegs’ and fruits skin. Of course, you can always peel them. However by doing it so, you would lose nutritional benefits of a fruit.

❓So, what is a solution, apart from purchasing organically produced fruits and veges’?

Simple as it can be:

✔️A recent study published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry revealed that a solution of water with a baking soda was more effective than plain water at removing pesticides residues from surface of the peels.
✔️Researchers at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, proved the same after testing the method. As they pointed out, submerging apples in a baking soda solution for two minutes removed more pesticides than a two-minute soak in the bleach solution, or two minutes of rinsing in running tap water. It took 12 to 15 minutes in the baking soda solution to completely get rid of the pesticides used in this study.

However, no matter how thoroughly you clean your fruits and vegetables, some chemicals may remain, the ones which may pe*****te more deeply into the fruit, depending on type of pesticides

Purchase, if possible, organic so as to protect your health, planet Earth and soil.

How your gut is communicating with you?

🔹Do you control or rarely consume processed or ultra-processed food? This is important since you keep inflammation down by minimizing consumption of foods that it can trigger and fully distort your gut.

🔹Is your p**p on schedule? Anything between 3 times a week to 3 times a day is normal p**ps occurrence. While each gut is different, but it generally takes 24-72h for your food to move through your digestive tract.

🔹Normally it's not a good thing when somebody is not talking to you. But in case it's your gut, that is a brilliant signal. You are eliminating regularly, haven’t been dealing with bloating or abdominal pain means you are doing it just fine.

🔹You need to know that antibiotics “clean out” all bacteria, including the good ones known as probiotics, such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. Prebiotics are different than probiotics, they are dietary fibres that feed the good bacteria in your gut. Protect your microbiome, and offset the effect of your altered gut flora.

Consuming prebiotic food, onions, garlic, asparagus, bananas, leek, flax seeds, apples, cocoa beans, legumes, etc.

Digestive intelligence is the only path to a healthy and a happy life.

While doing research about this topic, I could not think more about our WILLPOWER, mental strength, which in essence can change the world. Yet, it cannot change our own digestion unless you treat your body well, unless you consume more food and less product. This is, inter alia, one of the reasons why I am so “obsessed” and concerned about ultra-processed food and its effect on our health. 

Are you aware of your digestive intelligence? 

You believe you consume bio, organic good quality food but in essence it is only green marketing, green jargon, false labels that the companies have been using, rarely good quality ingredients - my deliberate definition of greenwashing (with all my respect to the ones not being part of this greenwashing parade).

That is why, inter alia, my mission is to educate and inform the wider population about the greenwashing phenomenon which in essence creates an illusion for us consumers and more important harms our health.

Are you digestively intelligent? 🤓

🌱90% of serotonin is produced and stored in the intestinal wall. “Only” the remaining 10% of our body’s serotonin is synthesised in the neurons of the central nervous system – our “first / higher brain”. And that amount of serotonin in the higher brain is of vital importance for us.

🌱Dr. Michale Gershon has spent 30 years of his scientific career on  an in-depth study of the attitude and behavior of the human gut and and he has confirmed that our nervous system has its own cerebral activity and intelligence. He concluded that there is a constant communication between the two brains: the one inside our skull and its “brother” down there in our gut.

🌱In his words: ”The intestinal brain plays an important role in human happiness and misery, although few people even know they have one”.

🌱Willpower and mental strength can change the world. However, willpower cannot change our own digestion unless you treat your body well, unless you consume more food and less product. Isn’t that crazy?

🍊Dried orange along with peel, which is more nutritive in vitamin C than actual inner part of orange, has numerous applications.

🍊Drying at the lower temperature preserves vitamin C and its antioxidant features.

🍊 If you are not cut and dry citrus fruit person, here it is also something for you.

🍋When eating your favourite citrus fruit, do not throw the peel, instead put in a bigger jar with white vinegar. Leave it for certain days, weeks (you can keep adding the peel in the very same jar) and after a few weeks filter it and use your liquid for household cleaning (in a kitchen, a bathroom, in living room, etc).

🎄How about to try something completely new but a very decorative and a healthy.

🎄Cut and dry orange or any other citrus fruit.

🎄We use dehydrator to have it dry but you can also use your oven. In that case, a temperature should not be higher than 50 degrees (to preserve nutritive values of an orange)

🎄And you can use dried orange for the upcoming Christmas decoration.

WHAT ARE THE BEST WAYS TO EAT SAUERKRAUT?

🌱 Try to eat it always fresh as a salad
🌱 Consume it as a superb salad along with cooked beans
🌱 Eat with sausage not ultra-processed one and mustard
🌱 Add to a bowl of slightly cooled soup (to keep the probiotics active)
🌱 Eat it as a simple side condiment

🌱 Sauerkraut, or fermented cabbage, is loaded with vitamins C and K, iron, and fiber
🌱 It is a superfood, because it undergoes fermentation, a process during which microorganisms on the cabbage digest its natural sugars and convert them into carbon dioxide and organic acids.
🌱 Naturally contains healthy gut bacteria called probiotics.
🌱By eating foods like sauerkraut, we enhance the health of our digestive system by optimizing our gut flora and balancing our gut microbiome
🌱 For people with constipation, fiber increases the weight and size of their stool and softens it, making it easier to pass.

HOW TO SHOP SAUERKARUT 🛒

You can certainly find sauerkraut easily in most supermarkets, but not all types you come across will be the same. 🤔

To make sure that you get the most out of the shop- bought sauerkraut, try to keep the following a very simple tips in mind:

🌱Read ingredients! Sauerkraut should only contain two basic ingredients: cabbage and salt. Some varieties may also add extra vegetables, but avoid those that add sugar or anything else to the mix. Avoid added sugars.
🌱Avoid preservatives. Many store-bought sauerkraut brands contain preservatives, which may lower the probiotic count. Again, read ingredients.
🌱Avoid pasteurized varieties. Off-the-shelf sauerkraut is typically pasteurized, a process that kills the beneficial probiotics. Refrigerated varieties are less likely to be pasteurized, but check the label. Again, please read ingredients.
