During the launch of the Ethnic and Diversity Audit Report for the County Public Service 2023, it was revealed that only 13 out of 47 counties complied with Section 65(1)(e) of the County Government Act. This section emphasizes the importance of filling at least thirty percent of entry-level vacant posts with candidates from non-dominant ethnic communities. Among these compliant counties, Marsabit leads the way! 🏆 Today, let's rejoice in this national achievement, recognizing the commitment to a more diverse and inclusive future."

The second day of the CFLA technical workshop commenced with a presentation from the AntiFGM board chair, addressing the current state of FGM in the country and outlining the interventions aimed at eradicating this practice. The chair engaged with the perspectives of various first ladies, seeking their insights on strategies to combat FGM in their respective regions. The workshop extensively delved into the concerning issue of the medicalization of FGM, along with global initiatives addressing this aspect. Furthermore, discussions encompassed topics such as child marriages, teenage pregnancy, and the initiatives of the National Government to address the same.
I thank UNFPA, AntiFGM Board and County First Ladies Association for partnering to make this very important workshop a success."

UNFPA, in collaboration with the Anti FGM Board and CFLA, initiated a technical workshop for County First Ladies Association at Enashipai Resort in Naivasha, which kicked off today. As the CFLA chair, I delivered the opening remarks, and we were briefed on UNFPA Kenya's role, encompassing the 10th Country Program and FGM Joint mandate. Subsequently, County First Ladies shared insights from the post-December 2022 workshop. We also delved into the challenges related to the legal aspects of GBV/FGM. Above all, I did a presentation on Mama Guyo Foundation’s Gaddis Gamme Program, a program that has inspired other counties to empower the girl child.''

“The PS, Ministry of Interior and National Administration, Hon. Raymond Omollo and I presided over the inaugural National Tree Growing Day in Hula Hula, Marsabit County. We are committed to collaborating to revive our forest ecosystems, supporting the President's goal of planting 15 billion trees to achieve a 30% tree cover in a decade. Today's launch saw the planting of 10,000 trees, with ongoing efforts in all wards and sub-counties in Marsabit County. Our yearly target is to plant 100,000 trees to meet the national goal.”

Yesterday, Governor Mohamud M. Ali - Abshiro : Had the privilege of hosting a dinner in honor of visiting First Ladies from Nairobi, Mandera, Migori, and Taita Taveta Counties. In attendance were a group of doctors, representatives from the Kenya Paediatric Research Consortium (KEPRECON), and the team from CEBA for PHC/RMNCAH+N.

Team Keprecon, operating a program in Kenya known as CEBA, was here to introduce their model for driving change through evidence and expressed their commitment to supporting advocacy efforts in Marsabit through my office. They then crowned five first ladies, including me, as County Champions. The program advocates for RMNCAH+N.

It was a great honor to be recognized and crowned as a Champion alongside the visiting first ladies. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our partners, including County First ladies Association and the County Government of Marsabit, for their unwavering support.

This celebratory event took place at the Sand and Rock Hotel in Marsabit.

First Lady Marsabit County - Mama Kayo :I was delighted to host First Ladies from four counties across Kenya as we gathered to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child in Marsabit, joined by 100 boys and 100 girls. Later on, we paid a visit to the Marsabit County Referral Hospital, where we distributed 500 scrubs valued at Ksh 7 million, a generous donation from County First ladies Association in partnership with the Matibabu Foundation. Given that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we also took the opportunity to encourage healthcare workers to lead the charge in raising awareness about cervical cancer.
