PUBLIC ALERT: RECALL OF BENYLIN PAEDIATRIC 100MLs COUGH SYRUP

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) alerts the public regarding the recall of Benylin Pediatric 100mls Cough Syrup, Batch No. 329304, manufactured by Johnson & Johnson (Pty), South Africa. This recall follows quality concerns raised by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) of Nigeria, due to a high level of diethylene glycol detected in laboratory analysis.

The Kenyan government is rolling out a comprehensive e-Government Procurement (e-GP) system to fully automate public procurement and disposal activities. All Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), along with county governments, are mandated to switch to this system by July 1, 2024. Subsequently, state corporations and county agencies are scheduled for integration in the 2024/25 financial year, enhancing transparency and efficiency nationwide.

The government has launched a comprehensive campaign to plant 150 million trees today. Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs will mobilize the public nationwide for the tree planting exercise which will be presided over by President William Ruto at Kiu wetland land in Makindu, Makueni County. Members of the public can access seedlings at their chiefs’ offices, Kenya Forest Service forest stations, and community-based tree nurseries. The public is encouraged to record and upload all trees planted on the Jazamiti App to enable the government to track the total number of trees grown.
