Last week we launched the 6th cohort of the Academy of Women Entrepreneurs! Academy for Women Entrepreneurs - AWE Kenya empowers Kenyan women with the tools to grow and scale their businesses.

Today, the United States commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned they were free. reminds us of the progress we have made as a country and the work that remains to ensure true equality for all people.

In support of World Environmental Day, embassy staff joined Kenya Wildlife Service for a clean-up effort at Nairobi National Park to help restore the park’s ecosystem following recent floods.

The United States Air Force band and Kenya Defence Forces joined in a mentorship session for Kenyan high school students this week. Thank you Harmony Kenya Foundationfor partnering to support music departments in government schools.

Teams from U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and Kenya Defence Forces provided medical supplies and conducted a hospital assessment at Mokowe Health Center in Lamu County. Our strong security partnership is focused on serving Kenyans.

In 2023, Patricia Kombo, the founder of the PaTree Initiative and IVLP from Kenya 🇰🇪, implemented an IVLP Impact Award project in her community that promoted environmental stewardship and climate literacy among youth. 🌱

According to Patricia, this project was inspired by her 2023 exchange experience in the U.S., particularly her meetings with staff from the Wilkes Center for Climate Science and Policy at the University of Utah and representatives of Portland General Electric's Project Zero.
