The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) is a state corporation established under the Industrial Training (Amendment) Act of 2011.
Monitoring and Evaluation of the Pilot Balanced Scorecard System for Staff Performance Appraisal at NITA Mombasa and Upgrade of the Current System.This event, taking place from 2nd to 6th September, 2024, marks a crucial milestone in advancing staff performance management at NITA Mombasa. It will focus on evaluating the pilot Balanced Scorecard System’s effectiveness in aligning staff performance with the organization's strategic goals. Participants will analyze the results of the pilot phase, identify key areas for improvement, and work towards upgrading the system to enhance appraisal processes. This initiative reflects NITA’s commitment to a performance-driven culture, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accuracy in staff evaluations through collaborative discussions and interactive sessions.
Today at the Youth Congress Taveta 2024, the PS for Labor and Skills Development, Hon. Shadrack Mwadime, alongside MP Taveta, Hon. John Bwire, Women Rep Taita Taveta County, Hon. Lydia Haika, AFC Chairperson, Hon. John Mruttu, NITB Chairman, Hon. Aden Noor Ali, and other government representatives, engaged with hundreds of youth.The NITB Chairman encouraged the youth to embrace NITA’s skills training and register for the upcoming December Government Trade Test for employment certification. He also highlighted the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program, which certifies skills acquired through informal training and work experience.
Hon. Shadrack Mwadime, Principal Secretary, will be a keynote speaker at the Youth Congress in Taita Taveta on September 5, 2024. The event will address pressing issues such as youth unemployment, entrepreneurship, and digital skills development. During the ongoing Diaspora Job Fair at Friends High School, Mbale, a significant milestone was achieved in promoting environmental sustainability. Ag. Director Labour Migration proudly handed over 2500 indigenous tree seedlings, generously donated by NITA, to Prof. Maurice Amadalo, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Kaimosi Friends University. This act was part of a larger initiative, which saw a total of 3200 trees—also including 500 from KEFRI and 200 from KMTC—being planted on the university grounds. The tree-planting event underscores the collaborative efforts towards empowering communities and nurturing the environment for future generations.
Enhancing our governance and compliance skills at the NITA Board and Management Training on Public Procurement & Asset Disposal Act 2015 & Regulations 2020, facilitated by the Kenya Institute of Supply Chain Management (KISM) at the beautiful Travelers Beach Resort, Mombasa.
Director Rastus Shikuku, a member of the National Industrial Training Board (NITB), alongside the Machakos/Kajiado supervision team (Ms. Faith Njeru and Eng. Javan Chiro), visited various Trade test (T.T) centers during the August 2024 TT series.The centers visited included Kajiado West Technical and Vocational College, NITA Athi River, Masai Technical among others.
During these visits, Center managers and assessors commended NITA for introducing new trades, such as MCP III.
The managers expressed the need for NITA to increase its sensitization efforts, as they felt that a large number of the workforce was ready to take up the trades either through recognition of prior learning, skills upgrading, or National Skills Certificate. Director Shikuku assured the centers of NITA’s unwavering support in streamlining the trade testing process and fostering inclusivity. He also encouraged the candidates to pursue self employment noting that the skills they had acquired had prepared them for the job market.

The National Industrial Training Authority in collaboration with the Sotik NG - CDF today held the graduation ceremony for 56 trainees at Sotik Primary School in Bomet County. The Chief Guest for the event was the Principal Secretary of the Department for Labour and Skills Development. The NITA team at the event were led by the Ag. Director General Ms. Theresa Wasike among other members of staff.
As part of our mission to foster economic growth and develop a skilled workforce, we are actively collaborating with regional leaders and institutions. Today, we had a productive meeting with Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, where we discussed our joint efforts to enhance vocational training in the county.Our discussions centered around the proposal to establish a NITA institution in the county. This initiative is aimed at improving the skills and competencies of the local workforce, addressing the challenges of the modern era, and supporting the existing vocational training colleges (VTCs).We believe that by partnering with local government and institutions, we can lay a strong foundation for a sustainable economic future, ensuring that our workforce is well-equipped to meet the demands of today and tomorrow.

On Saturday, July 27, 2024, we celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of the Youth Empowerment Program at Ihura Stadium in Muranga town. This remarkable initiative by the Muranga County Government began on October 13, 2023, and has provided youth with opportunities for community service, vocational training, and entrepreneurial support. Selected through a competitive balloting process, participants engaged in community service with a daily stipend, followed by training at accredited vocational centers and sat for Assessment through government Trade Test by NITA. Upon graduation, each received a grant of 15,000 shillings as seed capital for their businesses. The event was honored by the presence of the Director of Industrial Training and Skills Development from NITA. Congratulations to all the graduates for their hard work and achievements! "
