Australia supports the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to prepare for, and respond to, humanitarian disasters and crises globally, and here in East Africa.
Through the IFRC-DREF, Australia is supporting Burundi implement vital health; water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH); and risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) measures over the next five months – all of which can help limit the spread of the Mpox disease.
1.3 million people across 23 affected districts will benefit from the program.

In the past year, Australia has committed $26 million to UNHCR for the Horn of Africa and Sudan. Our visit reinforced the critical importance of coordination and partnership between Government, UNHCR, local partners and community to deliver vital humanitarian support to displaced people.

This project is breaking down barriers to sports and education for women and girls in Kakuma Refugee Camp by providing sports kits ⚽️👟to women in the Kakuma Premier League.
We are proud to support this program that empowers women and young girls and promotes refugee-led businesses in the camp through the purchase of kits.

Desert Roses trains young girls and women in football, helping them chase their dreams and transform their lives.
We are proud to support these young athletes as they pursue their passion for the sport. Desert Roses are not just all about training footballers; they are about empowering the next generation of women in Turkana County.
