NCTC is a policy institution created to serve primarily as the coordinating agency for all counter terrorism efforts for the government of Kenya.
Yesterday, on behalf of the regional counter terrorism organizations, the National Counter Terrorism Centre and the Financial Reporting Centre organized the 3rd Nairobi Caucus where more than 100 delegates including regional practitioners, international partners and organizations participated.
The 3rd Nairobi Caucus created awareness on the evolving threat of terrorism financing, build capacity among relevant institutions to detect, deter and disrupt terrorism financing and strengthen public-private partnerships to counter the financing of terrorism.
Gracing the event was Monica Juma, CBS, EGH, MBS the National Security Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kenya.

The National Counter Terrorism Centre continues to seek public input on the Zero Draft of the National Strategy to Counter Violent Extremism (NSCVE).
Today marks the conclusion of the fifth regional event held in Laikipia County, where representatives from Embu, Meru, Isiolo, Nyeri, Marsabit, and Kirinyaga counties deliberated on the document, which incorporates recommendations from the initial review phase.
The updated strategy aims to increase the involvement of women, youth, and male mentors as front liners in preventing and countering violent extremism (PCVE) in communities.
Input will also be sought from civil society organizations and academia to ensure a comprehensive approach to the strategy.
Yesterday, NCTC Director Dr. Rosalind Nyawira and National Cohesion and Integration Commission Chair Rev. Dr. Samuel Kobia formalized a strategic partnership through an MOU.
This collaboration aims to support programs that prevent and counter violent extremism, foster national cohesion, and implement alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in educational institutions.
Both leaders reiterated their commitment to these objectives, ensuring a unified approach towards a safer and more cohesive Kenya.
Dr. Rosalind Nyawira, Director of NCTC, and Dr. Nura Mohamed, Acting Director General of the Kenya School of Government (), signed a Memorandum of Understanding yesterday. This MoU establishes a strategic partnership to enhance training and capacity building for public officers in the prevention and countering extremism thus supporting the government's broader security agenda. Both leaders emphasized the importance of continued cooperation to achieve these objectives.

A vibrant public engagement session in Mombasa has just been concluded, focusing on reviewing the zero draft of the National Strategy to Counter Violent Extremism 2024 (NSCVE 2024).
P/CVE stakeholders from the Coast Region actively participated, providing crucial feedback to enhance the strategy. Facilitated by the technical working group on NSCVE and supported by
Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund
and
Act Change Transform, the event, gathered diverse perspectives to ensure grassroots realities and expert insights are integrated into the strategy.
Mombasa County Commissioner, Mr. Mohamed Nur Hassan, highlighted regional progress in preventing violent extremism and pledged ongoing support for the NSCVE review process.
Fred Ndegwa, Head of Partnerships at NCTC, emphasised the importance of community input, stressing the commitment to incorporating public feedback.
Joseph Kanyiri, Head of Prevention and Resilience at the Centre, highlighted the need for a strong strategy for combating violent extremism.
Participants showcased a deep understanding of violent extremism and P/CVE issues, contributing to making NSCVE 2024 a document owned by the people.

The National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) and the Association of Women in Safety Excellence (WISE) have announced a collaboration to tackle violent extremism, security, and safety issues in higher education institutions and correctional settings. The proposed program will address youth radicalization and offer specialized training for female corrections officers, aligning with NCTC's commitment to capacity building and raising awareness about violent extremism for a safer and more secure society.

We remember and honor the lives lost and stand with the victims of the attack. continues to partner with universities to create awareness of the dangers of terrorism and build resilience of educational institutions against violent extremism.
In rememberance of those whom we lost, inaugurated the Jasiri Observatory, an online information portal which will be used to sensitize, inform and empower individuals and communities to respond effectively to violent extremist ideologies. The portal will also enhance ongoing efforts to prevent and counter violent extremism.

The Director of the NCTC, Dr. Rosalind Nyawira, held a meeting with Mina Noor , the Special Envoy of the Netherlands for Counterterrorism. They discussed the review of the National Strategy to Counter Violent Extremism and the new priority areas in it. Additionally, they also discussed ways to enhance cooperation on CVE initiatives within the region. The director thanked the Dutch government for supporting CVE programmes in Kenya and called for more engagement between the two governments. Mina Noor congratulated Kenya for successfully hosting the Global Counterterrorism Forum coordinating committee meeting in Nairobi and expressed support for enhanced cooperation in PCVE matters. The two officials thereafter signed an MOU on cooperation in prevention and countering VE.
This week, NCTC completed a training session on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE) at Rainbow Ruiru Resort. Organized under the ARIVE program, the training involved 28 National Government Administrative Officers - NGAOS drawn from Kiambu. The training focused on equipping the officers with P/CVE strategies rooted in local partnerships, aiming to enhance early intervention and community resilience. Through such initiatives, NCTC continues its mission of strengthening P/CVE capabilities while also promoting public awareness on preventing terrorism. The successful outcome of this event underscores the Centreβs dedication to nurturing P/CVE advocates for community resilience.
