ABOUT MA********ON IN CHURCH.

By virtue of being a minister in church, I have come to realize that a lot of Christians are low-key struggling with ma********on. I used to think it was just me and this demon. But then, we are plenty held bound.

We all just come to church with suit and tie, hats, lifting up holy hands, crying during worship but within, we know what’s up.
Pastors preach and say the only solution to fornication and adultery is to FLEE! And then we jot down, collect laying of hands and go home.

So, we now have many 21st century JOSEPHs fleeing from the grip of Potiphar’s wife but then in their room cannot flee from their own demon, the one that lives within.
There are Christians who have not had s*x, yes, but they still struggle with ma********on.

So, it’s virginity with a touch of HAND-some-ness.

It was a challenge for me, honestly. It was like the devil had this very long chain on my legs. He could allow me move a long distance and then pull me back when he wants to. I could have two days of ma********ng and two months of ‘freedom’. But if the chains are still there, I’m not free! That’s not the freedom Jesus won for me.

So, the devil lets you attend Fire conference with Selman, Dominion conference with Arome and Freedom from sin with Benny Hinn and then you are kind of feeling free for a few weeks and then it’s back. And then subtly you start feeling like there might be no freedom or there’s no provision for your freedom. This one has come to stay. It’s not true!

During those periods, I would attend conferences, listen to sermons and read books. One thing they’d tell you is, avoid triggers. True. It’s a way out. But I have come to realize that it is not The Way Out.

Avoiding triggers is not sufficient. “Stop reading romance novels, stop visiting those sites, stop late night calls, don’t look at a lady at all, don’t hug girls shake only, don’t stay alone, etc” All these things are good but how long can they last? Can they break the chain?

And I’d tell you for free, there are levels you get to and there are no triggers! You are enough trigger. Living, as in existing alone is enough trigger. What do you do? You have so much information locked up in your memory that the devil pops up when he wants to. How do you intend handling this?

You’d pray for 8 hours? I know people who finished retreat and ma******ted on the last day. You return from one hot conference and then ma******te.

I’d tell you a 'secret' that could help you. It’s not deep at all.
There are a lot of things locked up in your mind, those illicit contents, the words the devil told you and all, but the Psalmist said in Psalm 119:11 – Thy word have I hidden in my heart that I may not sin against you.

Truth is, sin starts from the heart. Those external things are not the problem, it’s your heart. So you sin because the word of God is not hidden in your heart. It is in staying with the word that you know who you are! It is in staying in the Word that you become full of God. You become full of the fear of God – a consciousness of the presence of God.

You gain full awareness of the victory you have in Christ. You become full of the knowledge of the love of Christ for you. You become familiar with the voice of God. But, how do you know this? When your Bible is very far from you? You only open it when listening to a sermon.

Lock up the word of God in your heart. Hide it there. Stay with the word.

Pray. I know you know already. But, do it already! And do it consistently! It’s not when you go for retreat or fire conference that you pray. God is a consuming fire, every moment spent with him cuts the shackles off your feet.

I hope you’re aware that fire cuts iron, but it’s concentrated fire. Stay praying. I'm not asking you to pray against ma********on everyday. God forbid that you give it so much space in your secret place. Pray kingdom related prayers, pray for empowerment, your needs and all…It’s not in the prayer point all the time, it’s in the staying. It’s not what you’re saying, it’s where you’re standing.

Let me show you a scripture I hid in my heart:
"For no temptation has overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not common to man but God is faithful and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also PROVIDE THE WAY OUT that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently." [1 Corinthians 10:13 AMP]

You’re sitted above, stay above. Stay high.

Avoid triggers, but most importantly do not avoid staying with God. I learnt this really late, but I did anyways. I am still working with this even as God gives the grace.

In the end, staying pure is healthy. As in healthy in all ramifications.

Read your Bible, pray everyday.

Psalms 122:1
I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

Sometimes we can be so focused on where we’re trying to go that we take for granted just how far we’ve already come. You may not be where you ultimately want to be, but take some time to celebrate the fact you’re not where you used to be. Even if it’s small progress, remember small progress is STIlL progress 🤷🏽‍♂️

Relationships should draw you closer to Christ, not closer to sin. Don't compromise to keep anyone. God is more important.
