Chief Nwakpuda: The Forgotten Hero of Umuahia

History has a selective memory, choosing who to remember and who to forget. For those it remembers, it carefully crafts their stories, passing them down from generation to generation. But for those it chooses to forget, history never truly erases them. It simply tells their stories in different ways, at different times. And amidst it all, history never forgets a single thing.

Chief Nwakpuda was a renowned king and fearless warrior in his time. He adamantly opposed the construction of a rail line through his village, believing it would endanger the women of his kingdom. Even after the rail line was built, he remained steadfast in his refusal to let the train pass through.

So, on the day of the train's test-run, fueled by his unwavering vow, Nwakpuda prepared himself. News of the event had reached his ears through the town-criers, and without revealing his plans, he sharpened his war cutlass. With determination in his eyes, he made his way to the rail track, ready to defend his father's land.

As the train approached, the driver spotted Nwakpuda standing tall with his weapon. The train's horn blared, but it only fueled Nwakpuda's resolve. He mocked the approaching "animal," taunting it for crying before he had even touched it. Firmly grounded, he stood ready to strike. And alas, the inevitable occurred. He was crushed on the unforgiving rail track.

But here's the twist - the white men, the British colonial masters, were deeply moved by Nwakpuda's unwavering heroism. They saw him as a true legend. To honour his sacrifice, they built an epitaph at the very spot where he perished. Nwakpuda did not die in vain. He became a symbol of courage and a forgotten hero finally recognized for his extraordinary bravery.

Drink water where your horse drinks, a horse will never drink bad water. Make your bed where the cat sleeps peacefully. Eat fruit touched by a worm. It fearlessly collects mushrooms on which insects perch. Plant a tree dug by the mole. Dig a hole where the birds hide from the heat. Sleep and wake up at the same time as the birds, you will reap the golden grains of life. Eat more greens, you will have stronger legs and a resilient heart like the spirit of the forests. Look at the sky more often and talk less so that silence can enter your heart for absolute peace of mind.

Killwe Nwachukwu born in early 30s. A Native of Ogwa, Mbaitoli in Imo state was for more than two decades celebrated as a homegrown Nigerian “superman.” Some of his legendary feats of strength included lifting buses, having cement blocks crushed on his head, and allowing cars to drive over his body.

A great natural Superman! Nwozuzu Nwachukwu (Son of God). Legend has it that “Killi We” was a nickname he got after a fight with a stubborn man who refused to pay him for a truck load of goods he conveyed from the market to the man’s home. He used to push a wooden two wheel truck with which he carried goods for people.

Back then lorries and pick up trucks were few and expensive to hire. So after dropping off the goods, the man refused to pay what Nwachukwu charged claiming it was too high. He tried to walk away and Nwachukwu grabbed him by the hand insisting he must pay. A fight ensued and he lifted, slammed and pinned the man to the ground. The man’s wife ran into the house and came out with a wooden pestle to defend her husband. Nwachukwu snatched it from her, lifted the woman up and pinned her on top of her husband on the ground. Powerless, she started screaming, Killi we o! Nwachukwu, You must Killi we o!” meaning, Nwachukwu, kill us! He claimed his strength came from eating 'Utara akpu' (Cassava fufu).

Killiwe Nwachukwu was admired by many of us for his strength back in the 80s.

THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM
Ep. 4️⃣
THE SACRIFICE
The prophecy, now fully deciphered, revealed a chilling truth: a sacrifice of royal blood was the only means to avert the impending catastrophe that threatened Uzoma. The weight of this revelation bore down heavily on Adanma, Olachi, and Tochi as they contemplated the dire implications.
It was a night of uncertainty and foreboding when the three returned to Uzoma, their minds heavy with the burden of the knowledge they had unearthed. They knew that to act on the prophecy was to court a catastrophe of a different kind — the death of their beloved king, Obiora.
King Obiora had sensed a change in the air, and the disquiet that gripped his kingdom did not escape his notice. He was unaware of the unfolding events in the Forbidden Forest, but he understood that something ominous was afoot. As the ruler of Uzoma, he held the destiny of his people close to his heart and would stop at nothing to protect them.
News of the prophecy and the requirement of royal blood as a sacrifice reached the ears of the kingdom's leaders. The shadow of doom now loomed over Uzoma, and the people whispered of the curse that had haunted the Forbidden Forest for centuries. The tranquil kingdom was thrown into chaos as it grappled with the looming disaster and the impossible choice that had befallen them.
The fate of King Obiora, the fate of Uzoma, and the very essence of their way of life hung in the balance. The challenge was daunting, the stakes were harrowing, and the solution remained enigmatic. THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM (Continuation) Ep. 3️⃣

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

Adanma, Olachi, and Tochi moved through the eerie labyrinth of the Forbidden Forest with each step growing more treacherous. They pushed deeper into the heart of darkness, guided only by the pale light of the full moon, casting long, ghostly shadows upon the gnarled trees.
As they ventured further, the forest seemed to come alive with whispers and subtle movements in the underbrush. It was as though the spirits of Umunna Mmuo, the ancient guardians of this enigmatic place, were watching their every move.
Unbeknownst to them, the forest held secrets long concealed by the veil of legend. An hour into their journey, they stumbled upon an unexpected find: a hidden altar, draped in vines and shrouded in an eerie, silver mist. This ancient, forgotten monument seemed to beckon to them, as if it had been waiting for their arrival.
As the three intrepid explorers approached the altar, they discovered a scroll, written in an unfamiliar, mystical script. The ancient text, illuminated by the pale moonlight, began to decipher itself before their eyes. It spoke of an impending disaster, a calamity that would befall the kingdom of Uzoma, and the dire need for a great sacrifice to appease the spirits of the Forbidden Forest.
The prophecy foretold that only the purest of heart and the bravest of spirit could prevent this disaster. Adanma, Olachi, and Tochi were convinced that they had been chosen by fate to fulfill this prophecy. But as the words continued to unravel, they realized the immense magnitude of the sacrifice required.
The forest whispered, as if giving voice to the spirits that had etched this prophecy in the annals of time. It spoke of the need for a life, the ultimate sacrifice, one that would bind the destiny of the kingdom and the Forbidden Forest together once and for all.
Fear gnawed at their hearts as they understood the gravity of their discovery. Adanma, Olachi, and Tochi knew that they had ventured into an adventure that was far more perilous and profound than they had ever imagined. A dark destiny loomed over them, and the kingdom's tranquility was at stake as they wrestled with the heavy responsibility of unraveling the mystery, confronting an impending disaster, and deciding whether to heed the ominous prophecy.

THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM
Ep. 2️⃣

The Forbidden Forest, known as "Umunna Mmuo" in the ancient tongue of Uzoma, was more than just a collection of ominous trees and eerie silhouettes. It was a place steeped in legend, a realm of both beauty and terror. The stories spoke of ancient spirits, some kindhearted, others vengeful, who guarded the secrets and power concealed within its depths.
King Obiora had always warned his people never to enter the Forbidden Forest. He reminded them of the tales of those who had ventured in, never to return. And so, his decree was clear - to enter the forest was to court death, and those who dared to defy his rule faced a dire fate.
Yet, in a kingdom where youthful curiosity burned as brightly as the African sun, some of the younger members could not resist the allure of the Forbidden Forest. It whispered promises of untold treasures, hidden knowledge, and an adventure like no other.
Among those lured by the forest's forbidden charm were Uzoma's very own maidens: Adanma, Olachi, and Tochi. These three friends, bound by a thirst for knowledge and an adventurous spirit, had grown tired of the everyday routines and traditions of Uzoma. They longed for a taste of the forbidden, a chance to prove themselves and perhaps uncover the forest's well-guarded mysteries.
One fateful night, guided by the silvery glow of the full moon, they set out on their perilous journey into the Forbidden Forest, their hearts racing with a blend of excitement and fear. As they crossed the threshold into the woods, an eerie hush fell upon the world. The looming trees cast elongated shadows, and strange noises echoed through the underbrush, as though the forest itself was aware of their intrusion.
The deeper they ventured, the more ominous the forest became. Glowing eyes peered from the darkness, and the wind carried ghostly whispers. Soon, the lines between reality and legend blurred, and they found themselves ensnared in a web of mystery and danger.
Unknown to them, King Obiora had caught wind of their forbidden excursion and had sent Chiefs Obilo, Ezeadi, and Emeka, along with the chief priest Kweke, to bring them back. The forest, it seemed, held secrets not even the king wished to unlock.
The stage was set for an adventure fraught with peril, for the forbidden forest had a power and a history far greater than anyone in Uzoma could have imagined. As the young maidens delved deeper into the heart of darkness, their journey would take them on a terrifying ride filled with strange creatures, chilling apparitions, and secrets that could shatter the kingdom's tranquility forever. The fate of Uzoma hung in the balance, and the stakes had never been higher.

THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM
Ep. 1️⃣
In a distant African kingdom known as Uzoma, a land where the vibrant weaving of nature's beauty was embedded with the threads of tradition, King Obiora reigned as the kind-hearted and wise ruler. Uzoma was a place of lush landscapes, where rolling hills stretched into the horizon, and a river as old as time itself meandered through the heart of the kingdom. This river was the lifeblood of Uzoma, bringing fertility and prosperity to its people.
At the heart of the kingdom were four esteemed chiefs: Obilo, the master of diplomacy and negotiation; Ezeadi, the guardian of ancient traditions and customs; Emeka, the fearless warrior who protected the realm; and Obinna, the keeper of the kingdom's secrets and history. These chiefs were the pillars upon which Uzoma's strength and unity rested.
The spiritual well-being of Uzoma was entrusted to Chief Priest Kweke, a respected sage who communed with the spirits and offered guidance to the people in times of need. He was the link between the earthly realm and the supernatural.
In this serene kingdom, seven young maidens embodied the essence of beauty, grace, and purity. Adanma, Olachi, Eberechi, Ifeoma, Amina, Tochi, and Ugochi were the enchanting flowers of Uzoma, known for their extraordinarily supernatural beauty and kind hearts.
But there was one place that cast a shadow over this heavenly kingdom - the Forbidden Forest. An ancient, dark enigma, the forest's depths were shrouded in mystery. Legends whispered of spirits that dwelled within, and a powerful curse that had kept the forest forbidden for generations. Even the bravest warriors dared not venture into its depths, for they knew of its eerie reputation and the chilling stories that echoed through the kingdom.
Amidst this backdrop of tranquility and prosperity, a mysterious figure was a frequent sight in the kingdom. The mysterious mad man, Okolo, wandered through Uzoma, muttering cryptic riddles and sharing unsettling prophecies. The people regarded him with a mix of curiosity and anxiety, for his cryptic words often seemed to hold hidden truths.
One day, a powerful prophecy emerged from the lips of Okolo. He spoke of a great danger that threatened Uzoma, lurking within the Forbidden Forest. It was a peril that even the kingdom's most revered chiefs could not foresee. The enigmatic mad man's words sowed seeds of unease in the hearts of the people, and they turned to King Obiora for guidance.
The tranquil kingdom of Uzoma was on the brink of a profound transformation. The journey into the Forbidden Forest was about to begin, and the destinies of King Obiora, the chiefs, the chief priest, the seven maidens, and the mysterious mad man, Okolo, would become intricately intertwined in a tale that would test their courage, loyalty, and the strength of their kingdom.

“The pilot’s emotional reaction when he discovered why birds were flying alongside the plane”

For many years, a man by the name of Jason has been a pilot.
Throughout his career, he has encountered a lot of unforeseen circumstances that called for quick thinking to be resolved. But he became a hero in one specific circumstance.
A massive flock of birds suddenly attacked the aircraft Jason was piloting during a trip, banging on the windows and making a racket.

Jason was shocked by the sight because it was so unique. He tried to escape the angry birds, but it wasn’t as simple as he thought it would be because he knew the passengers’ lives were in his hands.

He prayed that the birds wouldn’t harm the engine while he attempted to reassure everyone on board that everything would go perfectly.
Unfortunately, the birds were just becoming more and more hostile, leaving Jason unsure of what to do to get rid of them.

When he requested help from flight control, the control tower remained silent.

He decided to head back to the airport since he couldn’t keep the jet under control, but as the attacks grew more intense, he was eventually compelled to try a maneuver he had never done before: a water landing.

No matter how absurd that might sound, it was the only option that made sense to this pilot.
No passengers were hurt despite the rocky landing.
Once rescuers arrived, tugboats were sent to the area to help lift the jet out of the sea. Each passenger was brought to safety, but it took some time for this rescue operation to get underway because the bird attacks persisted. The birds resisted the rescue services’ attempts to scare them for an unknown reason, despite their persistence.

It was finally determined after an investigation what caused the flock of birds to attack the plane. The person who was attempting to smuggle some birds and was engaged in the illegal trade in exotic birds was revealed to be one of the passengers.
Jason was relieved and started crying tears of joy when everything came to an end and he realized everyone was safe. He not only averted a disaster, but also revealed a criminal enterprise.
This is simply another illustration of the difficulties those working in aviation encounter. Jason received admiration for his deed and his capacity to maintain composure and concentration while working to ensure the safety of every passenger on board.
This individual was solely responsible for ending the illicit enterprise that was the root of the unusual behavior of the birds.

DESTINY TWINS
In the heart of Ezeke village, a place where tradition ruled above all, a dire fate befell Ugo, a woman heavy with the burden of twins in her womb. The mere notion of twins was an omen of destruction, a shadow that cast darkness over the land. The villagers believed that the only way to avert this curse was to terminate the twins, or in case of defiance, banishment.

News of Ugo's impending twins reached the ears of the King of Ezeke, and he summoned Ugo and her husband, Adi. The king, a stern ruler, presented them with a terrible choice: kill the twins after birth, sacrifice Ugo along with her offspring, or face banishment. In a heartbreaking decision, Ugo and Adi chose banishment.

Ten days later, the King, accompanied by his council of chiefs, the chief priest, and some solemn villagers, led the couple to the boundaries of their land. The king gave them one last chance to reconsider, but they stood firm in their resolve. The chief priest cast a spell of darkness upon them, and the king ordered them to depart.

Years passed, and Ezeke was plagued by misfortune and strife. The king sought the counsel of magicians, sorcerers, and wise men, but none could remedy their woes. Desperate, one of the chiefs suggested a powerful seer and magician who had emerged in other kingdoms.

After an arduous search, the twins, Buga and Tobe, were brought before the king. To the king's astonishment, they were twins. Rage surged within him for allowing them into his presence, but Buga, one of the twins, implored the king to hear their story.

As Buga began narrating, he inquired if the king remembered a woman named Ugo. The king struggled to recall her, and Buga revealed the painful truth: Ugo and Adi, the twins he had sought to sacrifice, were their parents.

A profound stillness enveloped the palace as the king suffered a stroke from the shock. Kneeling, everyone begged for forgiveness and the healing of their land.

Touched by their plea, Buga and Tobe agreed to help. They summoned the villagers and, standing before them, Buga admonished against cursing what the gods had chosen. He revealed their origins and the blessing of twins, a gift from the gods. Tobe concluded with incantations and appeased the gods with a sacrifice.

With the dark cloud of misery lifted, the villagers rejoiced. The elders and council offered to let Buga and Tobe rule, but they declined, promising to consider the offer.

Ezeke village prospered once more, and its people learned a profound lesson that would be passed down through generations: never to curse what the gods have blessed.

In the heart of Africa, two inseparable friends, Essien and Ude, shared a bond like no other. They were like the sun and the moon, always together, their friendship shining brightly across their community. They grew up as neighbors, and their lives were intertwined from the very beginning.

From the time they could walk, Essien and Ude did everything together. They herded cattle, explored the dense forests, and, in the evenings, sat by the fire, sharing tales of their adventures and dreams. They even made an unbreakable oath, pledging to keep each other's deepest secrets and protect their friendship above all else.

The village marveled at their bond, often saying, "Essien and Ude are like brothers, their friendship knows no bounds." And indeed, they were like brothers, and they cherished this deep connection.

One day, as they were taking shelter from a sudden rainstorm in a hidden cave deep within the forest, Ude betrayed their oath. He revealed a secret that Essien had confided in him - a secret so personal that it cut straight to the core of Essien's being.

Essien, shocked and heartbroken by Ude's betrayal, couldn't believe what he had just heard. He stormed out of the cave, leaving Ude behind, their friendship shattered. Essien swore that he would never forgive Ude, vowing to keep their distance for the rest of their days.

The village gossiped, and rumors swirled like the wind through the leaves. The laughter and camaraderie that once filled their lives turned into silence, a heavy cloud of sadness looming over their friendship.

Ude, recognizing the gravity of his mistake, spent countless nights in anguish, seeking forgiveness and redemption. He tried to make amends, sending messages and gifts, but Essien remained steadfast in his resolve to stay apart.

Months turned into years, and the two friends who were once inseparable were now distant strangers. The village watched with sadness, their friendship's tragedy turning into a spectacle.

Then, one fateful day, when the sun painted the sky with warm hues, Essien decided to pay Ude a visit. As he walked to Ude's home, his heart was heavy with the weight of their broken friendship. Ude's heart raced as he saw his long-lost friend at his doorstep.

As they faced each other, the tension was palpable. But then, something beautiful happened. Essien, after all the time apart and the pain that had separated them, found it in his heart to forgive Ude. He extended his hand, and Ude, with tears in his eyes, grasped it.

Their grip was like a bridge mending the chasm that had separated them for far too long. The village witnessed this momentous event, and it was like a balm for their souls, bringing tears of joy to their eyes.

In this powerful display of love and forgiveness, Essien and Ude's friendship was rekindled, stronger than ever. Ude swore never to betray their bond again, and their love for each other shone brighter than the sun above, warming the hearts of everyone who witnessed their reunion.

And so, their tale, once filled with suspense, tragedy, and heartbreak, transformed into a story of redemption, forgiveness, and the enduring power of true friendship. Essien and Ude were living proof that even the deepest wounds can heal, and love can conquer all, even the most profound of betrayals. Their village celebrated their renewed bond with songs, dances, and laughter, and from that day forward, their friendship remained unbreakable.
