JAMB, NCC In Talk Over Production Of Special SIM Card For Students

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, and the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB are in talk over the provision of a specialised SIM card for students which would feature limited services.

Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), disclosed this on Monday.

Professor Oloyede, accentuating the mounting importance of candidates’ registered telephone numbers, underscored that these SIM cards have become indispensable for executing sensitive operations.

Addressing the media in Lagos on Monday, the Registrar revealed the novel procedure for admission acceptance.

He stated, “A candidate may either transmit ACCEPT or REJECT via their dedicated telephone line to 55019/66019, or personally endorse or decline any offer of admission (inclusive of programme alterations) using their fingerprint at an authorised CBT centre or any JAMB office.

“These freshly devised methods for admission decisions are designed to safeguard the candidates’ information and maintain the integrity of the admission process.

“With the introduction of this method, the significance of the candidates’ registered telephone (SIM) has escalated, as it is now pivotal for conducting increasingly sensitive operations. We are currently in negotiations with the NCC to establish dedicated SIMs for students with restricted functionalities.”

Out of the 1,842,464 candidates whose results from the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination were released by JAMB on Monday, seventy-seven percent scored below 200.

Visit the JAMB eFacility Portal: Open a web browser and visit the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s eFacility portal at https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/login.
Enter your login details: Here, you’ll need to provide your email address and password you used during registration.
Access your results: Once you’ve entered the required details, click on the “Check UTME Results” button. Your UTME score for each subject taken will be displayed on the screen.

Checking JAMB results 2024 via the SMS

Open your messaging app: On your mobile phone, launch your text message application.
Compose a new message: In a new message, type “RESULT” (all caps) followed by your JAMB Registration Number.
Send the SMS: Send the message to either 55019 or 66019, the official JAMB result from SMS numbers.
Receive Your Results: JAMB will then send you a reply SMS containing your UTME scores for each subject taken.
Service Charge: This method incurs an N50 charge which will be deducted from your mobile phone airtime

UTME 2024: JAMB ISSUES IMPORTANT NOTICE TO CANDIDATES ON RELEASE OF RESULTS, OTHERS

Release of 2024 UTME results will be officially communicated once ready.
All candidates with genuine technical issues, including biometric verification failure will be rescheduled accordingly. They’ll be officially communicated via SMS and their profiles to reprint their examination slips that will indicate their new centres, dates and time.
However, candidate that was late to the examination centre won’t be rescheduled.
And no candidate will be rescheduled twice. That’s why candidates have been urged to keep checking their phones and profiles for official communication on the rescheduling.
For others that have valid reasons as to why they missed the exam, kindly make an official request through JAMB ticketing platform and attach proofs. If your claim is genuine, you would be rescheduled. You can as well raise a ticket to that effect on

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has advised candidates writing the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) to desist from giving their details to fraudsters.

The Board Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, gave this counsel when fielding questions from newsmen during the monitoring exercise at the JAMB Professional Centre in Bwari on Friday.“Today’s examination is very important to us because we have done so much engineering that we have been trying to do in the last seven years, and we are only successful about it today for the first time.“

Those who are fraudsters, who are doing all sorts of things, know they are in trouble because for the first time we are able to do certain things that we have been aspiring to do.“We have found out that some of the candidates are giving their details to fraudsters, and fortunately, we thank the security agencies as they have been marvellously good to us.“Almost all the persons that have been doing this (fraudulent activities) are already in their nets.

I won’t want to mention the numbers, but I’m very happy to tell you that they are in the nets.“We thank the Inspector-General of Police, director-general of the State Secret Service (SSS), director-general of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, and the Nigerian Police Force National CyberCrime Centre (NPF-NCC),” he said.Oloyede, who commended the public, especially parents, for their smooth conduct, said parents usually constitute problems for students in previous exercises.“Everything appears to be going well. We want to thank the public for heeding our advice because it appears everybody is doing what they are expected to do.“Things will move smoothly if parents can keep away.

They are the ones constituting problems for the students, but you can see everything is going well,” he said.

*2022 UTME: JAMB shifts mock exams to April 9*

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mock examination will now hold on April 9, and not April 16 as earlier scheduled.

The board made this known in its Weekly Bulletin of the Office of the Registrar on Monday in Abuja.

JAMB said that the change was due to the realisation that April 16, earlier scheduled, was an Easter Saturday; a holy Saturday, celebrated by Christians to mark the end of the Lent period before Easter Sunday.

The board also noted that the date for the exercise had been affected also by the shift in date for the registration of the UTME and Direct Entry (DE), which was earlier scheduled for Feb.12, but later commenced on Feb.19.

It, however, urged all candidates who registered and would want to sit for the mock exercise to note the change of date and be prepared.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the 2022 registration commenced on Saturday, Feb.19 and is expected to end on March 26.

The UTME however has been scheduled by JAMB to hold from May 6 to May 16.

In a similar development, JAMB said that it had made significant progress in the ongoing registration of candidates for the 2022 exercise.

According to the board, it has successfully registered over 236,000 candidates on Feb. 26, eight days after the commencement of the registration on Feb.19.

The board, while comparing the statistics with its 2021 exercise, said that it registered only 102,221 candidates within the same period of eight days in the 2021 exercise.

JAMB attributed the improvement to its partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), while adding that the seamless process had yielded the desired results.
