Many interventionists equate Functional Communication Training to merely teaching An individual to to cram and parrot information. This is a very wrong approach that often results in the individual being stuck in a communication rut , increasing risk of challenges with understanding verbal language and issues with verbal perseveration or what is popularly know as vocal stimming.
