‘Somewhere over the Ringbo…’ wins First prize in Europan17 Sweden in Rimbo.
The Jury highlighted “the strong analysis of existing values, with the foundation of a robust overall concept that allows a ring road to connect the local community both socially and ecologically”.
Implemented in phases, this project will transform Rimbo into a vibrant town, offering diverse mixed-use spaces that cater to a wide range of activities, functions, and people. Embracing various building typologies, dimensions, tenures, and affordability levels, the town will be a social space that encourages citizen interaction, stimulates sociability, and strengthens collective identity.

Currently working on the transformation of Bospolderplein, a neighbourhood square in Rotterdam West. The participatory process, which includes the neighbours and a team of city-making experts, aims to make the square both socially and climatically sustainable.
Villa Rubik in full construction mode! The design for this house in the outskirts of Dordrecht (NL) focuses on maximising the qualities of the plot by opening up its compact volume to the green surroundings.
It is a pleasure to work on this project with the excellent ex*****on by Bouwbedrijf Rietveld. The design was done with help from Iconic Ironic.
In the transformation of the Multihalle in Mannheim (DE), we are recovering the original openings of the shell. This restoration will enhance the Multihalle's former monumentality and openness, blurring the distinction between interior and exterior and reconnecting humans and nature.

Works have started on the renovation of the Multihalle in Mannheim! The first steps are testing the current shell structure and carefully demolishing outdated elements.
The Multihalle, designed by Frei Otto and Carlfried Mutschler in 1975 for the BUGA garden show, was a unique and colourful experience. The shell will be restored to enhance its former monumentality and openness, while the halls will be carefully reprogrammed with human-scale interventions. The Multihalle will become a versatile framework, open to society and to its multiple developments.

Wonderful article about our project, M&I Apartment, in Diariodesign (text in Spanish).
COFO architects transforma una casa tras la emancipación de los hijos Casa en Sabadell, por COFO architects. Espacios más diáfanos, combinación de pavimentos y un curioso baño central de baldosas azules han sido la solución.
Little C has been nominated for the Rotterdam Architectuurprijs!
The ambitious housing development presents a new, high-density neighbourhood in the centre of Rotterdam. Fifteen compact buildings intertwine with publicly accessible streets and green squares, bringing cohesion and continuity to the city.

COFO’s design proposal for the main pavilion at the Concéntrico Festival is an open pavilion. Open in every sense.
Open to the city: Through randomly framed views, citizens can see and understand their everyday environment in a different way.
Open to change: An adaptable system that can be quickly reconfigured in response to the level of covid emergency or to festival events.
Open to visitors: A meeting space to encourage discovering, encircling, observing, experimenting, creating...
Open to creativity: The panel system is designed to stimulate the active participation of citizens, generating opportunities to experiment at different scales.
After reviewing over 200 submitted proposals, the jury from Concéntrico has chosen the winner of the pavilion competition. Congratulations to sauermartins + Mauricio Méndez!
During the corona crisis, the need for diverse, high-quality public space has become evident. A few years ago, COFO architects, in collaboration with art curator Piet de Jonge, developed a strategical design to transform the interior of a housing block in Rotterdam into a blossoming alpine garden.
The project, named Rocky Garden, provided a sustainable and affordable solution to remove the debris of a dilapidated warehouse by reusing it on-site. The debris, colonised and strengthened by alpine plants, would create a three-dimensional landscape of mountains and valleys.
This place-specific design gives the garden a unique identity, contributing to the collective pride of the local community. One of the main aims was to improve the social cohesion in this bleak neighbourhood by developing a participative plan for the self-sustained initiative.
Unfortunately, the project is currently on hold and the dilapidated warehouse continues to occupy potential public space.

Renowned photographer Adrià Goula has photographed the apartment renovation we recently completed in Barcelona. He has beautifully captured how Mediterranean light enters deep into the apartment. Filtered by the textured glass and coloured by the intense blue tiles, daylight provides a unique bathing experience.

Our design for an apartment renovation in Barcelona plays with openness and intimacy, introducing intriguing sight lines and opacities between functions.
Direct morning sun rays deeply pe*****te the bathroom through the cupboard’s strategically placed open niches. Filtered by the textured glass and coloured by the intense blue tiles, daylight provides a unique bathing experience. Stepping out of the shower, the contrast between the blue tiles and the sand-coloured floor echoes the nearby Mediterranean Sea.
