Tamu Loshar is a new year festival of Gurung people of Nepal. It is celebrated on every 15th Poush (December/January) of the Nepali calendar. Similar to other Lhosars, the Gurung people also represents the years with a cycle of 12 years representing various creatures (garuda, serpent, horse, sheep, monkey, bird, dog, deer, mouse, cow, tiger and cat).

On Dec 30, 2023 Rotaract club of Swoyambhu successfully conducted 2nd Club Assembly.

This dynamic gathering brought together our dedicated members, inspiring leaders, and passionate individuals committed to creating positive change in our community. With productive discussions, strategic planning, and insightful presentations, the club assembly served as a platform to align our goals, share accomplishments, and chart a course for an impactful year ahead.

Together, we are poised to make a difference and continue our journey of service, fellowship, and personal growth.

Happy Yomari punhi to eveyone 🎉✨️

Yomari Punhi is a traditional festival celebrated in Nepal, especially by the Newar community. It's a festival dedicated to the Newari delicacy called Yomari, which is a sweet rice flour dumpling filled with molasses or sesame seeds. ! It's a beautiful festival that falls in the month of December, according to the lunar calendar. The word "Punhi" means full moon day, so Yomari Punhi is celebrated on the full moon day. People believe that Yomari Punhi brings good fortune and prosperity. The Yomari is shaped like a fish, which is considered auspicious. It's not only delicious but also holds cultural significance. It's a wonderful time to celebrate and indulge in the sweet flavors of Yomari! 🌕🍡During Yomari Punhi, people make and enjoy Yomari with their families and loved ones. It's a time of togetherness and delicious treats! 🍡😊

On World AIDS Day,let's unite together to end the stigma and by remembering lives lost,supporting those affected .

तिहारको अन्तिम दिन अर्थात् कार्तिक शुक्ल द्वितीय तिथिका दिन यो पर्व विशेष उत्साहका साथ मनाइन्छ। यो पर्व दिदीले भाइलाई र बहिनीले दाजुलाई अनि त्यसैगरी भाइले दिदीलाई र दाजुले बहिनीलाई विशेष मानसम्मानका साथ विधिपूर्वक पूजाआजा गर्ने, मेवा-मिष्ठान आदि मनपर्ने कुरा ख्वाउने, दिदी बहिनीहरूलाई दान-दक्षिणा एवं वस्त्र आदि दिने परम्परा छ। परापूर्वकालमा बहिनी यमुनाले यसै दिन आफ्नो भावना अन्तर्निहित पाइन्छ। दाजु यमराजलाई विशेष मान सम्मान गर्दै भाइपूजा गरेको धार्मिक महत्त्व छ।

म्ह पुजा चन्द्रमानक नेपाल सम्वत् अनुसारको नयाँ वर्षको सुरुवात कछलाथ्व पारु (कार्तिक शुक्लपक्ष प्रतिपदा) तिथिका दिन नेवार समुदायले मनाउने पर्व हो । यस पर्वमा हिन्दु तथा बौद्ध दुवै समुदायका नेवारहरूले आफूले आफैलाई पुजा गरी सुस्वास्थ्य तथा दिर्घायुको कामना गर्ने गरिन्छ । यसका लागि परिवारका सबै सदस्यहरू अनिवार्य रूपमा एकै ठाउँमा बसी आफूलाई मण्डलमा प्रतिविम्वित गरी आफैले आफ्नो पुजा गरिन्छ । म्ह पुजा हिन्दु तथा बौद्ध दुवैले श्रद्धापूर्वक मनाउने भएकोले पर्वलाई धार्मिक समन्वयको कडीको रूपमा पनि लिइएको छ । म्ह पुजाका लागि परिवारको सबै भन्दा जेठी आमाले पुजा अघि सारी आफ्नो आफै पुजा गर्न लगाइन्छ ।






#म्हपुजा

गोवर्धन पूजा हिन्दुहरूको एउटा प्रमुख पर्व हो । हिन्दू पौराणिक कथन अणुसार गोवर्धन गोकुल नजीकै रहेको एक पर्वत हो । विश्वासानुसार कृष्ण भगवान गोकुलमा गोपालहरूसँग बस्दथे । गोपालहरू देवताका राजा इन्द्रको पूजा गर्ने गर्दथे तर इन्द्रवाट उनीहरूले केही पाउँदैन थिए । कृष्णले एकदिन गोकुलवासीहरूलाई केही नदिने इन्द्रको पूजा गर्नु भन्दा खनिज, घास, पानी, दाउरा इत्यादी दिने गोवर्धन पर्वतको पूजा गर्नु राम्रो हुने कुरा राख्छन् र सवैजना त्यसै गर्न राजी हुन्छन् । गोवर्धन पर्वतको पूजा हुन्छ । आफ्नो सट्टा गोवर्धन पर्वतलाई पूजा गरेकोले रिसाएका इन्द्रले गोकुलमा असिना र पानीको वृष्ठी गराउछन् र भगवान कृष्णले गोवर्धन पर्वतलाई हातले उचालेर सबै गोकुलवासीहरूलाई आश्रय दिन्छन् र अन्त्यमा आफ्नो हार मानि गल्तिको लागि कृष्ण समक्ष क्षमा माग्दछन् । भनिन्छ त्यसै समयदेखि गोवर्धन पूजाको आरम्भ भएको हो ।





#गोवर्धन पूजा

आजको दिन नेपाल उपत्यका भित्र र बाहिर जुनसुकै स्थानमा बसोवास गर्ने नेवार समुदायले नेपाल संवत् अनुसार नयाँ वर्षको पहिलो दिन अर्थात् "न्हूदँया भिन्तुना" (नयाँ वर्षको शुभकामना आदान प्रदान) गरी जातीय एकता र पुर्ख्रयाैली साझा मौलिक संस्कृतिका रूपमा विकास भएको म्ह पूजालाई आफ्नो-आफ्नो परम्परागत चलन अनुसार हर्षोल्लासपूर्ण रूपमा मनाइन्छ । विशेषतः नेवार समुदायले मान्ने यो संवत् नेपालको मौलिक संवत् पनि हो ।

कुकुर तिहार वा नरक चतुर्दशी यमपञ्चकको दोस्रो दिन अर्थात् कार्तिक कृष्ण चतुर्दशीको दिन हो। यस दिन मृत्युका देवता यमराजलाई प्रसन्न पार्ने कुकुरको पूजा गर्ने गरिन्छ। कुकुरलाई यमराजको दूत मानिन्छ। कुकुर तिहारको दिन कुकुरलाई टीका तथा घाँटीमा फूलको माला लगाइन्छ। यस दिन कुकुरको सम्मान स्वरूप मासु, दूध, अण्डा र कुकुरको खाना लगायत विभिन्न खाद्य पदार्थहरू खान दिइन्छ। यस दिन कसैले कुकुरप्रति अनादरपूर्ण व्यवहार गरेमा त्यसलाई पाप मानिन्छ।

लक्ष्मी पूजा नेपालका प्रमुख पर्वहरूमध्ये एक हो । तिथि अनुसार कार्तिक कृष्ण अमावस्याका दिन यो पर्व मनाइन्छ । नेपालमा यो पर्व लक्ष्मी देवीको पूजा गरी घरभरि दियो बाली मनाइन्छ । नेपालमा यसलाई यमपञ्चकको एक भागको रूपमा मनाइन्छ। वर्षका चार महत्त्वपूर्ण रातहरू मध्ये लक्ष्मी पूजाको रातलाई सुखरात्रि भनिन्छ। यस दिन स्त्री जाति विशेष गरी कुमारी केटीहरूले घरघरै गई भैलो खेल्ने चलन छ। लक्ष्मी धनकी देवीलाई भनिन्छ ।

काग तिहार वा कागपूजा कार्तिक कृष्ण त्रयोदशीदेखि कार्तिक शुल्क द्वितीयासम्म पाँच दिन मनाइने तिहार पर्वको पहिलो दिन हो। यस दिन कागको पूजा गर्ने गरिन्छ। यमराजको सन्देश वाहकको रूपमा कागलाई सम्मानको साथ पूजाआजा गरेर खानेकुरा दिइ काग तिहार मनाउने गरिन्छ। कागलाई यमराजको अत्यन्त प्रिय भक्त पनि मानिन्छ। त्यसैगरी हाम्रो समाजमा प्रचलित काकगवेषण, काकन्याय, काकबलि आदि विविध शब्द कागसँगै सम्बन्धित छन्।
