First PAHS Research Symposium 2024 was organised today(12/10/2080) by RSAC (PAHS Research and Scholarly Activities Committee).

Prof.Ajit Nepal and Dr.Deepak Yadav were in judges panel in oral presentation and poster presentation sessions respectively.

Dr.Leison Maharjan presented a paper titled “Incidence of surgical site infection in relation to duration of post-operative antibiotic use in thyroid surgery- a cross-sectional study”.

Dr.Bhawana Dangol and Dr.Namita Stha Bajracharya participated in Research Training Workshop conducted between 2/11/2023 and 15/12/2023 at by Research and Scholarly Activities Committee (RSAC) of Patan Academy of Health Sciences.

Prof.Ajit Nepal participated in ‘Curriculum Review Workshop 2023’ organized by NAMS (National Academy of Medical Sciences) at Bir Hospital on 2nd & 3rd Poush, 2080.

Curriculum review was done for the post-graduate studies- MD/MS/MDS/MS & MSc. MIT.

Dr. Leison Maharjan presented two rare cases of Maxillary intraosseus hemangioma and Nasal myiasis in a syndromic female and Dr. Manisha Aryal presented Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis in the Grand Round (29/8/2080).

We are glad to share that Dr.Deepak Yadav attended 8th ASHNO-RCOT-AAOHNS 2023, Thailand in following sessions:

1) Session: "Evaluation HNC in summarized"
Role: Chairman

2) Session: Grand debate in topic: "Total parotidectomy in malignancy: is it an optimum extent?"
Role: Pros team member

Dr. Leison Maharjan presented a poster on “A rare case report of Nasal Myiasis in a female with Christ-Siemens-Touraine syndrome” at 3rd NMA National Health Summit 2023.

Dr. Deepak Yadav presented on “Management of primary in carcinoma tongue (early lesion)” at Head & Neck Cancer Symposium organised by Kathmandu Cancer Center on the occasion of World Head & Neck Cancer Day 2023.

Dr. Manisha Paneru presented a rare case of rhinosporidiosis extending into lacrimal sac and Dr. Anju Shah presented unusual airway foreign bodies in the Grand Round (29/3/2080).

Back to back three foreign bodies were removed under GA.

Two were (a LED bulb and a Pen cap) in the primary bronchus which was removed by rigid bronchoscopy. Both were 8 months old infants. Third case was of foreign body(a folded plastic) in the oropharynx.

Glimpses of PG 1st year Annual Exam!

We are glad that our faculty Dr. Deepak Yadav is a part of this new initiation- Nepalese Association of Thyroid Laryngology & Allied. Best wishes to the association in the coming days.

Dr. Yadav also moderated a panel discussion in First Thyroid Surgical Workshop on 2nd April, 2023.

Glimpses of 2nd year PG Annual exam…

Our 2nd year residents Dr. Anju Shah and Dr. Ujjwal Kumar Mishra participated in 28th Nepal Temporal Bone Dissection Course (16th & 17th March, 2023) organised by TUTH, MMC, Maharajgunj. We are thankful to faculties of Department of ENT-HNS, TUTH, MMC.

14 months old child with foreign body bronchus was removed with rigid bronchoscopy. It was an ear ring. Removing foreign body bronchus involves a huge risk to a patient due to shared airway for ventilation as well as instrumentation.

Parents should not allow children to play with small objects as children often tend to swallow the objects.

Dr. Rajesh Maharjan, Dr. Ujjwal K. Mishra and Dr. Bidur Adhikari presented rare cases of Vagal paraganglioma, Recurrent pleomorphic adenoma of parapaharyngeal space and Myoepithelial carcinoma of maxillary sinus respectively in the Grand Round (5/11/2079).

Dr. Rajesh Maharjan participated in ‘Core Faculty Development Workshop- X’ organized by HPEU, PAHS on 9th and 10th Feb, 2023.
