some JKA history
Master Masatoshi Nakayama was an internationally famous Japanese master of Shotokan karate. He helped establish the Japan Karate Association in 1949, and wrote many textbooks on karate, which served to popularise his martial art.
a good principle to follow
Karate is for all despite having limitations
When karate is only a sport, it can be practiced up to the limited age range of 25-30 years. Then what? I am 65 years old and feel better and stronger every day. In true Karate-Do, there are no boundaries, neither time nor age. He should get better with age. Budo karate is for life. I came to Europe in 1964 and since then I have been teaching my Karate-Do students in that traditional Budo spirit as it was in Japan, not as a competitive sport; but as something more sublime, deeper and more intelligent.“ - Taiji Kase sensei in interview for BUDO magazine in Athens, February, 1993.
