Thank you to our beautiful Mama’s who came out today, despite the many things on our list to do as mothers. It was very nice to just be able to sit, chat & enjoy each other’s company for 2hrs.
We shared a picture that resonates with us Mama’s in this journey we share. Words such as powerful, reset, tiredness, drained, disconnect and many others emphasised of how we Mama’s must take care of ourselves.
We honour all of our Mamā’s who look after our unique superheroes. We value all that you do.
Special mentions to the two beautiful ladies with our small gifts Lama Ma*oe & Clarice Yerkovich.

Fantastic update thanks to the incredible advocates who challenged the previous March 18 update! ✅👏🏾
Good morning everyone,
Whaikaha has informed us that there have been clarifications and updates to the purchasing rules. The good news for the Autistic and wider Autism communities is that sensory items, tablet devices and noise-cancelling headphones are able to be purchased with funding.
Another change that may impact some people in this community: the changes from 18th March will not be applied to people who would have had to go into residential care as a result; and similarly, anyone who would have had to drop out of study, employment, or therapy as a result of the changes will get whatever they need to continue with study/employment/therapy funded, as long as it was committed to before 18th March.
At this stage, accommodation costs for respite for carers are still not funded, but this is something that Whaikaha is doing further work on.
We will post links to Whaikaha's documentation in the comments, and will answer whatever questions we can. This information has been provided to various disability providers across the sector, so your funding provider will have these updates and will be able to give you further information and guidance too.
We're grateful to everyone who spoke up and advocated for their needs and the needs of loved ones. We will continue to communicate your feedback to Whaikaha and the Minister, and make sure that this community has their voice heard.
Awesome interview by our lovely Co Founder Betty Pulefolau on 531pi. Malo lava 😊
Talofa lava Families, your voice and input plays a huge part towards this. Click on the link to complete the survey. Have your say now, not later.
Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People is calling on Pacific disabled people and their families to share their experience of disability through an online survey. The survey, with alternate formats, complements a series of meetings being held across the country.
The information gathered during the meetings and through the survey will help Whaikaha develop its National Pacific Disability Action Plan.
