Pink Shirt Day is on Friday, 17 May! 👚 Help create an Aotearoa where everyone is educated, equipped, and empowered to take on bullying.
Pink Shirt Day is celebrated in May each year and we're asking schools, workplace and individuals to speak up and stand together to stop bullying.
-----
Pink Shirt Day began in Canada, when two high school students decided to stand up for a friend who had been harassed for wearing a pink shirt to school. Pink Shirt Day was established in New Zealand in 2009, and grows stronger every year.
Hampden Street School were one of three schools that won free Pink Shirt Day 2024 tees for ALL their tamariki! 👚 Check out these smiley faces! Their senior students handed them out early last week - creating a beautiful sea of pink. Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora – Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying!
Swipe to reveal the date for Pink Shirt Day 2025! ➡️ Mark the day in your calendar and join us again as we help create an Aotearoa where everyone is educated, equipped, and empowered to take on bullying. 🌈 Each year is another opportunity to introduce the kaupapa to more tangata across the motu and do our part to fill our schools, workplaces, and whares with kindness. Mā te wā!
🚨 PINK SHIRT DAY 2024 HAS NOW RAISED MORE THAN $1 MILLION! 🚨 This incredible koha will help us provide free bullying prevention resources, fund InsideOUT rainbow-inclusive workshops in kura, develop a national wellbeing initiative for youth led by youth, and continue to build a movement of Upstanders – people who can recognise bullying and do something about it. We have so much whakawhetai for each and every one of you for taking part and making this one of our biggest Pink Shirt Days yet. 🥹
Congratulations to Hampden Street School, Woodlands Full Primary School, Paeroa College, and Waiouru School for winning free Pink Shirt Day 2024 tees for ALL their tamariki! 🎉👚 Each kura embraced the kaupapa and raised koha to keep it going all year round. A special shout out to and for helping make this all happen.
Pink Shirt Day had HUGE reach this year – all thanks to you! 🙏 Research undertaken by Ipsos shows that more people are aware of Pink Shirt Day and its value in Aotearoa. 📈 Most importantly, people are becoming more familiar with what bullying is and what to do when they witness it. Mīharo! 👚 Remember, the kaupapa is available all year round – with free resources, activities, and information available at pinkshirtday.org.nz.

Toby, Bentley, Yuki, and their mates at their doggy daycare were some of the thousands who took part in Pink Shirt Day celebrations a fortnight ago.
Their photoshoot raised $750 towards our bullying prevention efforts. Ka mau te wehi!
Rest assured, no dogs were bullied into the dress-ups. 😉 As the Pets in the City owner says, "If a dog doesn't want to get dressed up, my advice is don't force it."
We are so grateful to our friends at for being a Proud Sponsor of this year’s Pink Shirt Day! 🙏 Arohanui to all their kaimahi for getting involved and helping this kaupapa reach as many tangata as possible.
