This is absolutely one of my most challenging pieces.
It's called 'Three' because it's pretty much the accumulated effort of 3 years worth of time and practice to gain the confidence and skill to let go and make what I wanted to make! One Christmas I gave myself the time...time to explore and think. Three was the result!

There are no sketches, no plans and definitely no certainty when I began. Luckily each piece evolves incrementally along the way as I highly doubt I could even draw a piece that looked like this! 😅

Yes! some days working it out on the fly is painfully difficult but that's also where you find the Fizz!! Between the difficult parts just on the other side around a few corners....there it is....

'Three' needs to be out in the wild, to be enjoyed and admired in a new home that's why I'd love the right person to have 25% OFF as my gift to them. This is such a personal piece to me that I feel needs to be out there and seen.

Today's the day!! At 3pm!!
Sometimes I'm a little bit guilty of looking past the work that I've done and moving swiftly on to the next idea or the next piece. It's only when I see it all laid out in front of me that I realize, whoa! I did aaaalllllll that! How cool! I'm super proud of the work I've created over the years and hugely grateful to all of you who have supported me in along the way. As many of you may know I've been working non-stop for weeks creating this latest collection of minis. Each piece is hand made using some of my best recycled timber!

Now this is an epic piece! Light and bright! I made this piece using some of the finest NZ wool fabric and...the icing on the wood cake is a sweet piece of brass right in the centre! Niiiiice!! 🤙🏻

If you've never stood in front of my work it can be really hard to gauge the depth, layers and texture in every piece. My photos really don't do a good job at helping me out here 🙄

So, here's a little attempt at trying to highlight some of this for the people playing along at home.

Obviously, they're better viewed and appreciated as a whole and from a distance, rather than with your camera (or face) 3 cm away but hopefully these images will give you a better idea of the finer details.

I often get comments from people who have been following along on the socials that they are super surprised by ALL the layers and depth when they get to see them in person.

He's called Woolly. A little hard to tell in the photos but the dark grey curved pieces on the side are actually covered with a "woolly" textured fabric. Pretty cool hey 😎

I've been enjoying adding some new textures and materials to some of the works lately and this is one example of incorporating repurposed fabrics offcuts with the repurposed timbers.

From the hundreds of original art works I've created over the year, 60cm x 60cm have been, by far, one of the most popular with the buyers and followers.

Maybe it's because the symmetry works so perfectly?

Maybe it's because it's such a versatile size that works in soooo many spaces? In an entrance way, down a hallway, above a desk, bed, dining table, couch, on that awkward piece of wall between two doorways or windows, in any room of the home or office....you get my drift 😜

Recently, I've only created this size as commissioned works but I thought it was time to bring it back for this collection and I'm glad I did.

Over 60 hours of making, endless hours of creative inspiration, a lot of 4am mental design and redesign, a good few cups of frustration and possibly a little sprinkle of "colourful" language but, I'm super stoked with how she's turned out.

One of my favourites from my latest collection that's currently exhibited and available for sale at this weekend.

I've played around with curves and wallpaper designs in several of this collection and I'm really loving how they've turned out.

This piece is a new twist on my larger free form works. I like how the rounded edges and botanical design of the wallpaper softens against the hard timbers.
