A few lucky members of our install team get to have this as their ‘office’ for 2 days while they assemble an extension to the Falls Lodge on the Routeburn Track. The skill of the pilot landing our panels is something to behold ... privileged to have the opportunity to work on these special projects!

Week 3 Installation Update. Building D & C. Village Works Quarters, Jacks Point, Queenstown.

Building D is complete and the install team have now moved ahead onto Building C! Approximately one week per level (including the private roof terraces) with QA done and handover to the main contractor underway. Level one on Building C also completed with level two going up next week. 🌳🏭🏗️✅

Day 3 Installation Update. Village Works Quarters, Jacks Point, Queenstown. Our XLAM CLT midfloor panels and stairs went in perfectly today with the result being two fully closed in apartments in 3 days! Weather permitting we expect to have the second level of apartments done by Friday next week with the roof terrace to follow straight after. This incredible visual progress is the result of an industry leading pre-construction project team, highly detailed in-house planning and documentation, our superstar Hector Egger on-site install team, and a combination of offsite manufacturers delivering the high-quality kit of parts for the job. 🏭🏗️✅

The Hector Egger install team are underway with the installation of the new Village Works Quarters apartment project at Jacks Point, Queenstown. The first internal and external wall panels were installed over the last 2 days with lintels, XLAM CLT stairs and mid floor panels going in tomorrow and Friday (closing in the first two apartments in 4 days). This development consists of 16 luxury apartments across 4 buildings over 3 levels including roof terraces. Progress updates to follow as we go up to the roof terrace on Building D and then start again at Level 1 on Building C … and work our way along 🌳🏭🏗️🏢

The last of the timber panels and pre-finished chimneys are heading out the door to our upcoming Village Works Quarters project at Jacks Point, Queenstown. Combined with some beautiful CLT floors panels and pre-finished stairs from XLam, we will be installing 16 apartments (8 with fully loaded outdoor roof terraces) over a commercial ground floor level. This will be an exemplar project showcasing a hybrid construction methodology containing in-situ concrete, CLT floor panels and stairs, and Hector Egger prefabricated structural wall and roof panels. The building’s digital design has been coordinated by our in-house team with on-site assembly provided by our expert team of installers. 🏭🚚🏗️👷🏼🏛️

Hector Egger New Zealand is proud to support an increasing number of community organisations and events around Cromwell and the wider Central Otago district. Recent adventures include transporting the Dunstan Devils Ice Hockey Team to the Southern Inter Secondary schools tournament, whipping up some timber outdoor tables for the Cromwell Golf Club, supporting the Cromwell Light Up Winter Festival (big plans for this next year!) and hosting a fantastic group from the senior management arm of the Cromwell Lions 🦁 It is the greatest pleasure for Stephan, myself and our team to get up on our skis and start to share whatever resources we can with our local community.

By realising all of our projects using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, Hector Egger New Zealand are able to accurately forecast material quantities down to the smallest detail, enabling us to provide fixed pricing for our entire scope on a project. In addition, we can also share information across project consultants enabling a coordinated set of processes leading to better outcomes on site. This coordination allows us to map services throughout the structure, optimise the routing, pre-cut all penetrations in our panels and manage clash detection. The screenshot below shows the mechanical services coordinated with our structural model for the now completed Luggate Memorial Centre, New Zealand's first certified Passive House Community building.

It was a real pleasure for Hector Egger New Zealand to attend last nights celebration of Swiss National Day and the commemoration of 60 years of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and New Zealand. Our business is a unique combination of Swiss and Kiwi entrepreneurship, IP and innovation, and we are fortunate to be a member of both the Swiss and New Zealand business communities. Day Five at Kelvin Heights and our scope is now completed on the main house. The building is screwed off and taped ✅ engineers roof inspection signed off ✅ waterproof roofing membrane and counter battens installed ✅ and the floors cleaned and tidy! Stage Two is a cool triangular building containing the garage and loft apartment ... coming soon 🏗 🏘

Day Two install at Kelvin Heights and the team were focused on getting the roof on and covered for a rain day tomorrow ✅ Amazing to stand on the bare slab with our client on Sunday and under the living room roof on Tuesday afternoon! Huge thanks to our project partners and the fantastic team at Hector Egger New Zealand … office, factory, install … total legends ✊🏻

This past week saw the start of the Village Works Lofts project - 23 live/work units at Jacks Point in Queenstown. This project is a combination of Nudura ICF and our timber panels including external gable end walls, internal walls and roof panels. Great working with the teams at Falconer, Formcrete and Nudura to bring this project to fruition 🤩

Sometimes you have to remember that through all of the relentless pressure, demands, risk, reward and the million other things that business owners experience ... you should take a moment, catch-up and go for lunch on a Saturday 🍔 🍻

Four years ago this week our business partners Paul and Michael Schaer from Hector Egger Holzbau visited us in New Zealand for the first time. Just as we had done on our first visit to Switzerland the year before, we all sat together on the last day to recap and discuss our plans for a potential Hector Egger New Zealand. Both times we wrapped things up with Paul saying “This feels good … let’s keep it going”!

Four years on and we have built our own dream factory, have enthusiastic clients, lots of supportive and innovative suppliers/consultants, a great banking partner in Kiwibank, and most importantly … a super team of talented and committed people leading something innovative and exciting in the New Zealand construction industry! With our friends and business partners Paul and Michael, we were hit in the bum with a rainbow 🌈 Stephan and I continue to work hard to reward the faith they put in us four years ago this week! Thanks team 🇨🇭🇳🇿

Day 2 - First McKenzie Shute house install complete with internal walls, external walls and roofing elements done ✅ Garage and loft building have mid-floor on and remaining roof and wall panels going in today. Great progress and a credit to all of our team … from design through to manufacture and now install 🏗️ I love watching our buildings go together on site - spent most of the day watching from the path behind offering unhelpful advice and observations but I did buy the beers afterwards 😎

A few big weeks ahead with the delivery and install of 3 high-end family homes with garage and loft at Jacks Point, Queenstown. Each high-performance home will be taken to site on four transport decks and assembled to weathertight within a few days by our install team 🤩

Great opportunity for an intermediate/experienced Cadwork Technician to join our fast growing team in Cromwell. We have a wide variety of challenging timber construction projects in our production pipeline and are now looking for a fifth member to join our amazing design team!
