We are looking to expand our Board. It is a time commitment of 1-2 hours per month and meetings are usually online so you don't need to be Dunedin based. We use a variety of techniques to help children feel comfortable. Sometimes a stuffed toy is what's needed.

A 16 year old has his life ended by a 13 year old. We've seen many many references to this tragic event. We don't know the full details of what occurred, but I have been wondering if any form of earlier intervention into the 13 year old's mental health may have lead to a different outcome. Our thoughts are with these children's family and friends as they struggle with the repercussions of this tragedy.
Poor mental health is costing UK employers GBP51bn a year. Research from Deloitte looked into how the health of children and young people was affecting working parents, and found that parents' concern for their children's mental health was costing employers GBP8bn annually. This was attributed to parents and caregivers taking time off work, the impact of the stress on their work performance, and them leaving their roles entirely. The same thing is happening here.
"Wellbeing is not a fruit bowl, it's individual."

Two weeks ago I tripped over and landed on my wrist. What did I do about it? I went to the urgent doctors to get it looked at. Why wouldn't I as it was unlikely to randomly fix itself. So turned out to be broken and I have a weeks long plan for while it heals and after to make it strong again.
Why, so often, is mental health treated differently? It shouldn't be and we need to normalise anyone asking for help.
How amazing is this!

Awesome session with Sir John Kirwan today. A key takeaway is mental health is a community problem and communities need to help.
And yes, he did make us dance and hug strangers!
Nominate Be Heard Children's Counselling to share $1,000,000 in grants and donations We provide free one to one counselling for primary and intermediate aged children. We do this within schools in order to provide a familiar and safe environment for children. It also removes the barrier for parents and caregivers having to get their children somewhere else.
Thank you so much to the Catalytic Foundation for the generous donation we received tonight. Congratulations also to all the other recipients.
Our first street appeal is done and dusted! Thanks to everyone who helped out, all those family and friends roped in. "Mum you'll be fine to do a four hour shift won't you?" And also thanks to the teams at Crew Consulting and Body Synergy.
