The Macandrew Bay School art auction is now live! You can follow it at galabid.com/macbay23. It closes at 9pm on Monday the 13th November. Funds raised supports arts in the school. A set of my cubes are up for auction. They are difficult to photograph because of the subtle effects of clear etched acrylic surfaces playing with the light and shadows. They are interactive, the new owner can arrange them however they like or divide the set up. Imagery relates to Dunedin and The Outside Peninsula. A quality array of works available on the online auction, check it out!

Haven’t been in a church for a while and today I’ve been in two. The beautiful St. John’s church in Tay street that is now and is hosting the Invercargill Licensing Trust Art Awards/exhibition. The other a virtual church constructed by clever students. I stood awkwardly in front of the giant screen wall, where I was digitally incorporated. I’ve watched Netflix, how hard can it be to look natural behind a camera? Definitely an actress fail, 😂, but so interesting learning about the technology.
Short notice, but I’ve just heard of this course which has a place or two left. (Wish I lived closer) The contact is Kat Luper, I can fwd an email address of you are interested.
Missing: my cutting dies! Not these ones! I am missing my metal cutting dies- that go through my X-press. They were in a plastic folder and attached to magnetic sheets. Circle shapes, numbers, patterns etc. I may have left them behind on a teaching course or given them to someone to use and forgotten who, but I haven’t been able to locate them for a while. I’ve even tidied up. Any assistance to then finding their way home appreciated. Thank you.

Looking forward to Sunday, the Labour Party’s Studio Trail. These photos taken above desk level which is, of course, the zone that is cluttered and waiting patiently to be organised on Saturday before visitors arrive!
Happy Easter lovely people! I was thrilled to get some bulbs this year, a most appropriate gift, thank you Robbitti. Their photo will come when they are in bloom. This photo is of one of my favourite gifts, handmade by Oliver, a student when I taught art at Tahuna Intermediate, circa 30 years ago. A candle, cast in an egg with a copper and wood holder. Still too good to burn.
Visiting our sister city Otaru, Hokkaido remains one of the most wonderful of my life experiences. I felt at home there and, like old people can, I remember places there as if it was yesterday. My longing was increased and a sated simultaneously on arrival of these beautiful fabrics. You can get them in NZ! https://ikimono.co.nz/

Meaning I have printed many pages, maps and created backgrounds with a Taranaki theme but have left blank pages for you to add to the book yourself with visual references, notes and ephemera. Available at Out of the Blue Gallery in Opunake longside lots of beautiful works by other artists
Tool Time! I got this seam ripper at Stitch Witches and it is coming into its own as I’m attending to my pile of sewing and mending. I’m super happy at the way it powers through mistakes and seams that need undoing. A quick unpick is handy but I am finding delight in my tiny little saw.

We’d love to make sure that this is shared directly with the creative people in the area so it would be wonderful if you could share this with with your networks.
The deadline for applications is Sunday 20 November. Anyone who’s interested in this mahi and has questions is most welcome to get in touch Lisa Wilkie at the DCC directly.
Applications to be emailed to [email protected] by the 20th November.
