After a full day Ryan Douglas won the under 3 year section, defeating Joanne Campbell-Dyer on the last end 👏

George Stanley was holding 2 lives going into the last game, however Joy McFarlane wasn’t going to roll over and she won the sudden death end. This means we now look forward to them both returning on Monday morning for the final 🥳

The Seniors certainly had a very long day. The senior women each took a turn to win, so after the first round they were in a similar position to what they were in at 8:30 am, except they only had one life left each. Carol Hawes took the opportunity to beat Dianne Phillips and she will meet Ginny Sherriff on Monday morning with the winner claiming the title for 2024.

The Senior men certainly had many close games and at the end of the day Boon McIlroy was the only one with two lives. Steve Goldsbury will face off with Andrew Ball and Boon will have to tame the rising star … Tim Sherriff. It will be well worth getting out of bed early on Monday morning to see the semi finals, followed by the finals starting at about 11:00 am.

Unfortunately the forecast is not good , so a decision has been made to postpone the Have a Go Open Day at Gisborne Bowling Club. Greens are already wet and are closed from midday.

Keep an eye on this page for a new date, hopefully a lovely sunny day, and come and join us for an afternoon of fun bowls. 😀

Opening Day has been and gone, now we get into the programme proper!

This Saturday 9th Sept, Alex Allen Open Triples, entries close Thursday 4.00 pm, single entry.

Then on Sunday 10th the Bowls Future Open Day for public to Have a Go at bowls, members please come and help so visitors see how great our club is!

Sat 23rd - Bellerby Cup Open Graded Fours, team entry, entries close Thursday 21st, 4.00 pm

Gisborne Bowling Club held a very successful Opening Day tournament on Saturday. 54 players turned out showing the club is certainly in a very strong position. The overall winning team was Kay Goldsbury ( skip), John Andrews (director) and Lesley McIntosh (Lead), they narrowly defeated Peter Clay (Skip), Janice Allan(Director) and Nanette Treloar (Lead). Both teams won 3 games, they also had the same number of ends won so it came down to their differential and there was only 3 points difference. A fantastic day!

Hi everyone... it's Karen Pinn here.
After starting and updating this page for four years to keep the everyone up-to-date with the club news, events, etc... it's time for me to move on.
It hasn't been easy juggling between full-time job, family, Bowls, etc but I was committed to help the club with publicity on the social media platform as it's what I've enjoyed doing for many years in the communications and marketing field.
However, my help and gesture is no longer required/appreciated by the board so the secretary Janet Willson and the board will be updating this page from now on. And the centre board will be updating the Bowls Gisborne-East Coast Inc. page from now on too.

Unfortunately, Malcolm Trowell (skip), Steve Goldsbury, Arthur Hawes and Peter Clay of Gisborne Bowling Club did not qualify for Post-Section in the National Champion of Champions Men's Fours in Auckland. They lost all 3 games... they did not play their last game against Gary Lawson, Nathan Glasson, Kelvin Scott, Ricky Cook of Elmwood Park Bowling Club as Gary's team had already qualified.
Malcolm Trowell (skip), Steve Goldsbury, Arthur Hawes and Peter Clay of Gisborne Bowling Club finished 19th out of 21 teams around the country.
Hard luck guys... get them next time 🙌 still proud of you all. Safe travel home 🙏🥰
