One fallow must of had wire tangled around his antlers prior to fighting. They were found with one having a broken neck and the other panicking to get away. It was not safe to release the live buck so he was dispatched.
Some good heads running around
Another one from the kid hunting weekend
Police are investigating following a report of a deer being killed in the deer park of Martin Street, Gore.

After a wet morning the day came out warm. Patrick spent a bit of time assessing the buck before putting on a successful stalk.

It was Great to see so many kids getting out and enjoying the outdoors. And very humbling to see the community businesses getting behind the event sponsoring all the prize's. Thanks again to all involved.

Another story from one of our members
After spotting him 3 weeks prior, I could see his tops were not fully developed and knew he would still he soft under his velvet layer. But to find him again in a doc block with a ridiculous amount of hunting pressure and have everything line up perfectly was insanely tinny. I couldn’t have asked for a better excuse for the heavy pack out. A public land 14 point Red Stag trophie I am proud of and may never beat!
Keep an eye out for your NZDA membership subs for the up coming year in your emails or mail
From one of our members
Me and a mate set out for some chamois hunting in some average weather between Christmas and New Year’s and managed to come home with heavy packs.
Having a tarp shelter was a game changer for this particular trip as we could sit underneath it and continue to glass while we waited for the rain to pass.
I ended up taking out a nice doe from 250 yards and didn’t let any of the meat go to waste
