What does being in good shape mean to you?
Happiness is usually achieved in social groups. Even a shy and introverted person will benefit from being social.
Building confidence under the bar.
Pretty pleased with 52.5kg for 3 reps in my clean and jerks today, especially after the million other sets I had programmed today.
I have probably been capable of lifting this amount of weight for a while, but confidence has been a big factor when it comes to clean and jerks.
How did I increase my confidence?

Thoughts on people sharing their athletic achievements?
I personally say, shout it from the roof tops.
The endeavors people put themselves through, I believe people should be proud and want to give themselves a big pat on the back.
It's also inspiring to others. Causing a domino effect of healthy behaviours.
This doesn't have to be something "big" like an Ironman. It can be completing your first 1km run without stopping to catch your breath... To me that is big!
So many people are quick to criticise their friends/family for trying to improve their health. They often become experts or worse try to sabotage efforts.
For example if a family member turns up to a family bbq and they opt for a big plate of salad and a burger. They don't touch anything else including dessert. Not because they are restricting themselves (because they've had a big plate of food) but because they have listened to their body and realised they don't want anything else. Yet people still comment that they aren't conforming to the social situation of over eating.
Or... I've seen plenty of times where people call someone crazy because they go to the gym 5x a week. What's crazy is a third of the world's population is inactive... ๐คฏ๐คฏ๐คฏ
So next time you feel embarrassed of sharing something you're proud of, when it comes to your health and fitness, share it any way. You are putting your health first and are a role model to others!

A three year fat loss transformation!
You may be thinking, this doesn't look like that much of a dramatic fat loss transformation for three years.
But to get here, it took three years of other work.
This transformation is actually 6 weeks... and a loss of 4kg. But if I had tried to lose 4kg 6 months ago, 12 months ago, 18 months ago I would have failed.
Why?
Multiple reasons. But the main reason is I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition just over three years ago. Since being diagnosed I have been learning about what healthy looks like for me. What I have to eat to feel good, how I need to rest to feel good, the type of exercise that makes me feel good etc.
If I don't strike the balance right, I am often left fatigued, my digestion is off, my menstrual cycle symptoms are off the hook and I lose all motivation to do anything.
But, I still jumped into the learning process, one step at a time. I could have given up and put on lots of weight, which often people do who have been diagnosed with the same condition as me.
Instead of giving up, I moved forward. I didn't try and achieve everything all at once. I worked out what I could do at the start to make myself feel better. Then when that was achieved, I moved onto the next thing; and the next and the next.
Patience is key with your health and fitness.
This is why I am running my JUMPSTART JUNE challenge for the first two weeks of June; to help people start with one step towards their dream goal. From day 1 to day 14, the challengees will have made progress. This is so much better than just giving up because they want it NOW and it's just not possible to have it NOW.

If you could work on one thing to improve your health in June what would it be?
I asked this question in my facebook group, and everyone said something different.
Here are some examples:
- Dropping sugar from my cup of tea
- Work on my stomach and back area more
- Get my energy levels up, Iโm exhausted
- Swimming
- Positive self-image
- Getting stronger in my weightlifting
As you can see, everyone has something different they would like to work on. All these things are achievable to work towards in June, but they will all have different steps to take to get there.
Not only will the steps need to be different because the goals are different, but everyone has different lives too.
Different priorities, different barriers, different jobs, different families, etc.
My point is, there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to achieving your health and fitness goals.
Which can make it difficult for people who are struggling to find the right way to their goals.
If you google the answer, follow your favourite insta star, or try and copy your friend who has already achieved your goal- you may fail- because the steps they took may not be right for you.
