Introducing our new excercise programme
MOVE TO MUSIC
have some fun, meet new people and enjoy a great
excercise programme
Our members enjoying the new larger venue this morning for their weekly Pakeke O Maraenui gathering.
Many older people in our community do
not have family or friends nearby and
will be on their own over the holiday period
If you are aware of an older person
In this situation, do a ‘neighbourhood
check in’ and get to know your
neighbour. Perhaps they may need
some assistance with shopping in the
hot summer weather, a regular contact
to check on their well being.
Let them know you are there should
they require any assistance.
🎄🎉Christmas celebrations started today with our Pakeke O Maraenui members Christmas lunch. Thank you to the Hukarere students and the Moko Boys for the entertainment and the Moko Boys for their mahi in the kitchen , Marcia our coordinator for organising it all 👏👏
What does Age Concern do to prevent elder abuse and neglect?
Age Concern offers free, confidential, specialist Elder Abuse Response Services throughout most regions of New Zealand. We work with older people and their family and whānau to stop abuse, reduce the damage caused, and increase understanding to keep all family members safe.
Age Concerns work hard to reduce the harmful effects of elder abuse. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day helps to shine light on this often-hidden issue in our communities. We emphasise that anyone can call us at Age Concern with a question about the safety of an older person. Even if you are unsure, you have a hunch, or an inkling that something may be amiss with an older person, we would rather you call us sooner, than wait until you have definite proof. Break the Silence! The longer elder abuse goes on for, the more harm is caused, and the harder it becomes to untangle the effects on older people and within their family or whānau. Contact details for Age Concerns services in each region are available at www.ageconcern.org.nz. Age Concerns works alongside many other agencies such as health services, needs assessment services, the police, banks, residential care facilities, iwi, and other community agencies, to ensure the best possible outcome for older people.

Morning Tea fit for a king. Celebrated the Kings Birthday long weekend with a fun morning tea this morning, slide show of the coronation and a right royal quiz, with British chocolates and biscuits as prizes, of course.
Excellent turn out for our Clive trip lunch at the Hygge cafe last week.
The trip was fully booked with 25 members, who all enjoyed the scenic drive and the delicious food & drink while taking in the stunning views of the calm seas.

We would not have been able to support some older people impacted by the cyclone without the generosity of Christian Lovelink. If you have surplus goods, or are downsizing please consider them.
It's been a busy few months here at Christian Lovelink. Here is an update of what we've been up to. We've had many generous donations from groups over the past few months, which we look forward to showcasing here over the next couple of days. Thank you to everyone who has donated time and items. If you have a need, please don't hesitate to reach out.
