Meet Ralph - who started PT with me in late September this year as he wanted to get some strength and mobility to assist him as he manages his Parkinson’s disease.

Every session he has pushed himself hard, and the difference in his balance, movement and strength every session has been inspirational.

Loving hearing about all of the wonderful personal bests that are happening. Dave has been working hard since he joined BBS and achieved a personal best Deadlift of 130 kg and what’s more, he managed 5 reps.

Just a quick plea to ask that everyone ensure that their shoes are clean before they come into the gym. If stuff does come off your footwear, there is a vacuum cleaner in the office that you are welcome to use, as well as brush and shovel near by.

Many of you have checked in to see how Margaret from BHP Functional Fitness went with her challenge once she got home.

I was delighted to receive a message from Margaret as follows:

“Just to let you know I achieved my goal of 60 kg deadlift. It was very not so difficult this time😁
Next challenge is to level up lifting 60 x 5 then 65kg
Once again thank you for using your gym
Also, there were 2 ladies in the gym had been there one or two morning while I was working out and then when I attempted my lift, sorry don’t know their names will you let them know I succeed please🙏👵”

It's fantastic to see so many members enjoying the challenges of the leg press and it's sometimes eye watering to see how much some of you are pressing. 😲

As some of these weights are quite heavy, could you please ensure that the machine is fully unloaded after you have finished as some of the heavier plates are too heavy for some members to lift, meaning they can't use the machine.

This week Body By Science has had the privilege of hosting Margaret from Northland as a guest member. Margaret has been working hard in her gym BHP Functional Fitness towards a very special goal and didn't want to miss training because she was down here on holiday.

Margaret's goal is to deadlift 60Kg by her birthday and today she easily achieved 55kg. It's Margaret's birthday on Monday and her plan is to knock it out of the park then.

Oh ... and did I mention that Margaret will be 80 on Monday?

Such an inspiration and it was a privilege to see her in action today. It really does show that age is just a number.
