Keeping active during" lockdown" is the best way to keep happy and not feel "Blue" and sad.
Baking and eating is also a feel good activity... but when you over do the carbs, time to get out and get moving!
MH was able to get out and enjoy the sites and sounds, exercising by walking around the block in Mamaku and making new animal friends in Level 2.

A sad occassion for Te Aratu Trust to farewell Andrew Helsby at St Michaels Church in Rotorua yesterday.

Many lovely stories of Andrews childhood made us chuckle. His family were keen to share the brilliance of the Andrew they knew and loved.
It was nice to step into their lives with their son, brother and grandson. It made the day less sad and more bearable.

Their love of him was evident and their faith strong that he was now at peace with his world was humbling.
My hopes and prayers go out to anyone who is struggling with life and encourage them to reach out and speak up, there is always someone willing to listen.

ON THE BUSES
We are all trying our best to keep the community free of Covid. Great to see the bus companies being responsible and people getting behind them. Keep it up Rotorua. Don't believe the haters, we can beat this by all looking after each other.

KEEP WELL AND STAY WELL
It's that time of the year when we should be looking after our physical wellness as well as our mental wellness.
Regular check-ups are essential for maintaining good health. Keeping an eye on our weight and blood pressure can ensure we stay well. Many thanks to the lovely Nutritional Nurses at Ngongotahaha Medical Center.
DS was very pleased with his weight loss due to increased physical exercise clearing forest undergrowth in Sunnybrooke.
"Best part of my day is working outside and hearing the native birds above me, it's wonderful. God has given me everything I need. It doesn't get any better than that".

Princes Gate Hotel with it's beautiful Kauri timber features, lead light windows, welcoming open fire place and gorgeous wooden piano was the perfect hostess for these tired and cold travelers.

It's fantastic to be in Level 1 and our students are attending programs and courses regularly now.

One of our new programs is History Tours. Visits to local areas of interest with deep emotional ties for some of our people. A lovely walk down memory lane.

The past few weeks have had our students visit the Ngongotaha Rail Trust, the Jean Batten Memorial statue at the Rotorua Airport an the beautiful iconic Princes Gate Hotel.

Gizzy Local have had this wonderful local initiative brought to our attention. It may just serve up a dose of inspiration for others looking around for interesting ways to help boost our local businesses

CPS (Civil Project Solutions) have dreamt up a pretty cool initiative. Their hearts are going out to all of the local businesses and people in need within our community.

Until we shift into level 2 & perhaps even beyond, every day they are buying lunch for each staff member from a different eatery in order to help support them. Each employee is rostered on to have a turn at choosing a business & ordering lunch each day.

They've also encouraged each staff member to contribute an amount each week for the next few months into a fund to go towards a local charity/organisation doing good in our community.

Russell and Gretchen have said that for every $1 donated they will donate $2. Each month the money will go to a different local charity.

They're such awesome people with so much heart ❤❤❤

Thanks Huia Holden for sharing!

If you've heard of any businesses or groups doing cool stuff, let us know x

Informing you all that I will be returning for the new term as will Stuart Griffiths. I will remain the Homegroup Tutor of Puawaitanga and Stuart will be the Homegroup Tutor of Tukua.

Lindsay has informed us that we will not be returning before the 14th of May. If there are any changes, we will post it on our page.
