Latu was awarded the Betty Meyer’s Award for the second week in a row. Latu was recognized for her comprehensive delivery of two evaluations at our last meeting.
With 1 September just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to spring into a new challenge.

Fresh from her month long vacation, Latu was awarded the Betty Meyer’s Award for her ex*****on of the Chairperson role at our meeting last night.
The award honours Betty Meyers (1924 - 2017), who joined the Capital Toastmasters Club when she was in her 80s. She had never done any public speaking before and she was initially apprehensive. However, being a determined and committed person, Betty overcame her fears and went on to achieve the Advanced Toastmaster (Silver) Award in her 90s.
Toastmasters is a great way to meet new people and learn about a wide range of topics.

Another one of our newest members delivers a fantastic Table Topics session. Tarindu incorporated audience participation into his topics which really challenged the speakers and entertained the audience. Congrats to Tarindu for a successful session and for receiving the the Betty Meyers Award for the best contribution to the meeting.

Whakamihi ki a Catherine 🙌🏽
Catherine is one of our newest members and at the last meeting, she delivered her first Table Topics session. The theme was book titles and attendees at the meeting thoroughly enjoyed hearing the creative pitches that speakers delivered about their assigned book titles.
Congrats to Catherine for a successful session and for receiving the the Betty Meyers Award for the best contribution to the meeting.

Whakamihi ki a KJ (and Microsoft Copilot) 🙌🏽
Coming up with challenging but enjoyable table topics can be difficult. KJ took an innovative approach for this task and enlisted the help of Microsoft Copilot to identify the topics. Participants rose to the occasion and thoroughly enjoyed the session. Not surprisingly, KJ was awarded the Betty Meyers Award for the best contribution to the meeting.

At our last meeting, Sampath delivered a humorous and comprehensive Table Topics evaluation. The audience thoroughly enjoyed his contribution to the meeting and he rightly deserved the Betty Meyers Award that evening.
Simon was awarded the Betty Meyers Award for the second meeting in a row. He was recognized for his excellent speech delivery during the Table Topics session.

Simon received the Betty Meyers Award at our last meeting in recognition of his great management of the meeting. There were a few challenges before and at the start of the meeting but Simon managed these brilliantly and helped to make it an enjoyable meeting for all who attended 👏🏽

Carin (right) was awarded the Betty Meyer’s Award at our last club meeting. She delivered a fantastic speech titled “The Gift” which argued that people should view feedback as a gift rather than a burden. When reframed in this way, feedback becomes a helpful resource for individuals. It provides them with suggestions for how they might improve or adapt their way of doing or thinking.

At each of our meetings, we have a role called the Listener. The Listener listens carefully throughout the meeting to pick up on interesting points and questions that they quiz the rest of the attendees on before the end of the meeting. The Listener role and session encourage us to hone our listening and become even better communicators.
Simon was the Listener at our last meeting. He was awarded the BMA for the excellent questions he posed and the enjoyable atmosphere he created during this session.
Our next club meeting is this Wednesday, 5.30-7pm at the St Andrew’s Conference Centre.
