Apparently Fire Bread (Polish: podpลomyki), is the oldest form of bread in the Slavic world. I make them often at home and this weekend, weโll throw some on the grill at the Factory Shop.

Beef kabany. These skinny sausages are made of beef meat only and sheep casing and are smoked in Manuka wood.
I dried them slightly so you can just munch on them as they are.

One of my favourite dishes ever was slow cooked, melting in your mouth goulash with traditional Silesian dumplings and sauerkraut salad. And thatโs exactly what we are serving this weekend at the Factory Shop.

The next band leads the Polish folk music scene in Aotearoa, a big welcome to Krakerjack, who are showcasing soul-stirring vocal harmonies alongside virtuosic instrumentals and lively dance numbers. The seven-piece band fuses authenticity with innovation, celebrating a unique cultural tradition and introducing the Kiwi twists into traditional Easter European tunes. Na zdrowie! They play at SlavFest at 3:35pm, come and witness the intense fun they create on stage!

Our next band's name speaks for itself - the mighty locals Balkany play music from the Balkans and Eastern Europe and are sure to activate your dancing feet and/or listening ears to infectious rhythms and melodies/harmonies of Eastern Europe. Balkany was established almost a decade ago as a more portable version of the Balkanistas to join many wonderful festivals around Aotearoa.

This is pastirma done the Polish way. Gently smoked beef with oak and dried a little. With a handful of freshly fermented sauerkraut, your Rueben sandwich is a winner ๐
Szynkowa or the ham sausage, almost same as Krakowska but not smoked. We will send a little sample with online orders made this week (NZ only, 14-18th Febโ24) ๐
