True story: the other day I was told by one true kare (dear friend)… that a fellow potter (and also a friend) was a little too outspoken about my recent studio upgrades, something along the lines of “she’s only been at it a few years” and basically… some s**t was spoken out of turn, yaddi yaddi yaddah... ?young female+success? 😎

I get it… I AM a new kid on the block… but I tell ya what… I am soooo excited by the possibilities and so overjoyed by the gorgeous people I get to meet and work with… and sooo honored by the masters that have gone before me…

That I am simply going to humbly smile and carry on… because there are too many cool pots to be made… too many cool students to share knowledge with… and too many epic opportunities that this world has for us… should we only choose to say yes!

There is not enough time in this wild world to worry about whether ANYONE thinks you’ve earned it or not… just keep at it darling… you got this 💝

And for the beautiful humans that need to read/hear this today… just say yes… when a cool chance comes your way.. give it a go… if something scares you… remember that the feeling of nervousness is the same physiological feeling as EXCITEMENT 🤩

So next time you feel like an imposter… next time you feel too nervous… next time you wonder if you’re good enough?
Screw it and do it anyway!

Make that pot, teach that class, get your own studio, wear your favourite colour until it makes you laugh at how fabulous you are 🧞‍♀️

Back in the saddle with one of my super star ‘Intermediate’ students today!

Over the past few weeks I’ve been working with some incredibly talented friends to build out the new KMC studios curriculum and website … because not only has this new studio been purpose built for ceramics and arts education, I also want it to be a space where we can take you on a true journey of learning (and/or play 😉) and the best way to do that is to have a structured plan behind the scenes, so that you can rest assured you are going to gain real skills when you come to a class or workshop here.

I have a small handful of students that have been with me for a while and they have been through pretty much all of the steps that will be included in the upcoming Beginners series classes 1, 2 & 3.

And now I am super excited to take them into the next phase where we get to work on bigger and more exciting projects, there are just a couple of items to make sure we tick off the experience list.

Today we wrestled 4kg of clay for a warm up throw… with lots of hands on coaching to correct wrist hand and body position, we also made use of my new standing wheel (what a dream for achey backs)

Next session will be a Large casserole dish with a Lid & Gallery 🥘

Then we dive right into intermediate electives/projects… can’t wait to see where we end up 💪🏽🤩✨

The last 18 months have been a whirlwind … THREE studio moves, and a whole heap of pottery fun!

The next phase is absolutely in full force, but it’s also about time to check out and have some time to reflect, ruminate, meditate, dust off the cobwebs of old, and welcome in the TLC of the new!

So with that we are going bush with some beautiful old friends…

Wherever it came from … I’m feeling the most excited about glazing than I have in a very long time (lol and I’m actually always excited about glazing) but seriously these tones have got me super compelled to design a whole new line of work 🤩
