The Nitro & Pisa, designed with Polartec® Alpha® Direct, are everywhere but often hidden. Elusive & changing colours, here are some key characteristics to spot them in the wild:
- Usually found buried beneath outer layers
- Enjoys alpine terrain or anywhere cool & wet
- Easiest to spot when someone is de-layering
- The Nitro has thumb loops and a fuzzy hood– an easy giveaway
- If your friend wears a particular layer on every adventure without washing it, it’ll probably be the Nitro or Pisa

When Macpac Ambassador, Charlie Murray, describes a day as 'hectic' we know it must be out-the-gate wild. At the end of last year Charlie, Nick Pascoe & Jasper Gibson spent seven days forging a route from the West Matukituki Valley to the West Coast.

Starting any journey with the near-vertical battle up to French Ridge Hut is hard enough without also hauling skis, camp equipment, pack rafts & 7(ish) days' worth of food. From here began their seven-day epic - navigating mostly unexplored terrain and including everything from falling through an ice floe, to losing half a paddle.
