Our LAST crew introduction, and saving the most important job for it!!
Introducing our amazing stage manager…
Julia Bon-McDonald (35MM, HAUSDOWN, Sandwich Artist, When We Were Us) is a Pōneke creative with a true love of live theatre. Julia has a strong appreciation for the on and off-stage elements that make a great show, and she’s excited to help bring the best and worst parts of the school disco to life.
Some strange folk are dancing their way into BATS theatre in LESS THAN A WEEK!!! 🤩

Bringing this story to life, one spreadsheet at a time, meet our multi-tasking chaperone!
Austin is an award-winning producer and performer who loves theatre with the audience at its heart. He’s delighted to be managing the biz behind the scenes so that the creative team can party hard and bring this amazing work to the stage! But if you wanna talk spreadsheets in the back corner of the disco, he’ll be there with a luke-warm grape flavored fizzy ready to yarn!
Less than a week to go til opening night! 🪩👀
ONE WEEK TO GO UNTIL OPENING NIGHT OF ‘BOYS AND GIRLS AT THE SCHOOL SILENT DISCO’!!!! 🕺 🪩 ⚡️
We hope to see all your friendly faces at BATS Theatre next Tuesday!
July 9th-13th

It all starts with one idea.
Introducing the man who made it happen…
Jack McGee (Edit the Sad Parts, Long Ride Home, Sandwich Artist) writes funny dramas and sad comedies about very unhappy people who care deeply about trivial things. This is one of those plays.
Someone has got to make sure it doesn’t all end in tears!
Introducing our brilliant director…
Ben Kelly (OnlyBones, One Night Band, ratKing, Skin Tight) is a Pōneke based Director, Composer and Sound Designer. Ben’s looking forward to using his knowledge of music/sound in a play where the disco is silent and the whole cast is wearing headphones.
More photos from ‘Boys and Girls at the Silent Disco’ last Sunday! Not long now until opening night!
July 9th-13th
Tickets in bio 🎟️
Meet your School Disco Decorating Committee President!
Jacob Banks (Untitled Warehouse Project, Poets Before Me, MILK Saga) is a multidisciplinary designer and long-time Squash Co. collaborator. Jacob’s stoked to be helping bring this world to life and can’t wait to transport all of you back to your primary school discos.
A school disco is nothing without its fashion! 🎀
Introducing our übertalented costume designer…
Heather Wright, a Pōneke based designer and creative. Currently studying at Toi Whakaari and in her spare time, you can find her sewing up a storm.
On Sunday, we had a full showing of ‘Boys & Girls at the Silent Disco’ to Squash Co.’s closest and dearest for feedback. What a charming time! 😁
See you folks in two weeks at BATS Theatre!

I feel a dance coming on 💃
Over two years in the making, Squash Co. is proud to announce BOYS & GIRLS AT THE SCHOOL SILENT DISCO, written by award-winning playwright Jack McGee and starring an eccentric band of hooligans. Experience the highs and lows and emotional turmoil of being 12 years old at BATS Theatre July 9th-13th!
Tickets in our bio, see you there 🕺🪩
Introducing our final classmate…
Daniel Nodder (Only Bones, ratKing, HAUSDOWN, Smilestuff, MILK saga) is an award-winning physical performer and clown based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. With an extensive background in the freestyle street dance community, they bring movement experience to all of their work, specializing in silly body isolation and twisty contortion. They have most recently returned from touring to San Diego, where they unfortunately did not get a tan.
For the boys and girls who weren’t there for picture day…
Mia Oudes is a Pōneke based playwright, performer, and Squash Co. fangirl. She is looking forward to combining both the chill and anxious through Katie as she asks - what is long-term (eight months, to be exact) love, anyway?
Even the homeschoolers get a chance to party 🎉
Introducing our bow-tie wearing king…
Dylan Hutton (Long Ride Home, PopRox Comedy Nights, MILK Saga), an actor, producer and silly boy from Te-Whanganui- a-Tara. Dylan thrived at schools discos in his intermediate days, so he can’t wait to use that knowledge for the theatre.
Under three weeks til’ you get your dance on!💃 🪩
Introducing another one of your future classmates…
Phoebe (Sandwich Artist, Dr Drama Makes A Musical, When B***y Calls) is a composer and actor in Pōneke. Hard to spot in a crowd but stands out on stage (mostly because this show uses platforms). She is stoked to be playing a character who can actually set boundaries (unlike herself).
But wait, there’s more ☝️🤓
Introducing…
Sean (blackpill, ratKing, MILK saga) is a Poneke-based clown and creative. Most recently they have completed a masterclass in France at Ecole Philippe Gaulier and has been recycling those techniques on local stages.
Get your glow sticks ready ⚡️
It’s time to introduce you to the cast of…
‘Boys & Girls At The Silent Disco!’
July 9th-13th
Anna Barker (Long Ride Home, ratKing, Midnight Confessions) is a pōneke based actor and creative. Performing up and down the motu, she is so excited to bring this electric (albeit slightly facist) character to life.
