Harbourside Market

Wellingtons best weekly Food Market. Fresh produce, Food Trucks and entertainment.

Say hello to Arlo. Look at his grin.
He’s a 2 year old Belgian Shepherd from Upper Hutt visiting for his first time with his humans Alex and Marc.
There are actually 4 varieties of Belgian Shepherds and Arlo is a Groenendael.
Foxy Dawg is already his favourite stall for the treats! And he is really enjoying the social aspect of the market.
Alex and Marc love Hot like a Mexican. On this day they enjoyed Wellington on a Plates Kapiti Ice Cream Affogato pop up caravan.
Arlo came from Gisborne originally and is very food and ball driven. He is also very persistent and has a talent even with grumpy dogs, by just not reading the signs and going away. They eventually cave in to his cuteness.

Hi Welly,
Happy Saturday folks. I hope the weekend has treated you well so far.
A couple more archive photos. One showing Queens Wharf and beyond from the air and the other on the ground looking towards Post Office Square.
They rain held off most of the day where I was which was much appreciated at the Saturday soccer tournament.
The Waterfront is always a cool place to be, and tomorrow is no exception. Come down and get amongst it!
Get all your produce, eggs, and bread then maybe something yummy from our foodtrucks. Plus, a coffee and donut of course.

Say hello to Fred..
He’s an 18 month old Jack Russell and he is visiting with his humans Jaimi and Kerry from Lower Hutt. He’s the perfect size for their townhouse.
They have been popping in on and off for 3 years. Mostly for the produce but do enjoy a coffee from Origin. Maybe a wrap from Roti Bay or crepe from Excuse my French. Jaimi says the roti wraps bring some nostalgia from her university days. They were a great Sunday morning pick me up.

Fred is a very busy energetic boy who loves playing on the beach but not so fond of the water unless he’s encouraged by other dogs. Barking at the waves is more his thing. He loves other dogs and gives a little whine when he wants to explore a bit more.

Our very own Mr Chaiwalla has a venture bubbling away and is looking for a full-time chef. Asian/Malaysian style. Upper Hutt based.

Say hello to Mason.
He’s a 2 year old Italian Greyhound named after a restaurant in Newtown.
Hi humans Alex and Frank have been visiting the market with him for about 1 and a half years.
He has an extensive wardrobe as being quite slight he feels the cold.
Mason loves his food and is quite manipulative about getting it although veges aren’t a fav. Out of courtesy he receives the Foxy Dawg vegan treats but spits them out a little later. Mason is all about chicken related dinners.
A very curious and intelligent sight hound means he locks on to anything and will chase if allowed.
His favourite thing at the dog park is actually being chased as he can easily outrun the other doggos. Only interested as long as he’s winning. If he does get caught its game over!

Say hello to Luna..
What a cutie. She’s a 14 month old Red Border Collie and lives with humans Rowan, Jordi (Doris) and Amy.
They come down as a family occasionally and have favourite stalls, Excuse my French for the Black forest Crepe, Mr Circle and Chaiwalla.
As a side note Rowan has made Chai at home for Jordi every Saturday and Sunday by hand with mortar and pestle. Delivered in bed. That’s love.
Luna is super smart and has completed her Domestic Obedience Level 2.
Level 3 beckons!
They do joke that the little coloured off switch on her head doesn’t work as she’s full of beans although does find time to snuggle with the ladies in front of the fire some times.

Beautiful Husky/German Shepherd crosses from the Hutt Valley. They are currently staying on the south coast with babysitters Jorge & Te Rena. Their human owner is away for a bit. This is their 1st visit and they are loving the activity.
They love rocks! Toys and frisbees not so much. It’s all about the rocks, and will play fetch forever.

Say hello to greyhounds 8 year old Stretch and 11 year old Brooke. They are part of their human Mark and his daughters family. Both are ex racing hounds and joined Mark via Greyhounds as Pets.

Stretch is the dark coloured male, and he is a little anxious, but loves people as well as other dogs. He can be quite playful. Brooke is extraordinarily self-assured and motivated by food. She’s also a bit of a prima donna about walking on rough surfaces or lying down anywhere but her bed, but she’s a lovely, friendly dog and loves pats.
They both treat Marks daughter like a little puppy, but she’s close to getting bigger than them now, so they can’t jostle her around anymore and are starting to listen to her commands!
They only visit the market every couple of months, they come down for a change of scenery and scents, and to grab some fresh veggies and peruse the food carts. The dogs enjoy poking their noses around the market and Waitangi Park
They want to sniff everything and say hi to all the dogs they see. Away from the market, they love to run full tilt around the dog park or the beach until they’re exhausted, which is usually only about 5-10 minutes 😃. Brooke loves food, and is always on the lookout for something delicious to nibble, so the cacophony of wonderful smells at the market drive her wild.
These two don’t bark at all, except for Brooke when she’s feeling playful. They sleep about 16 hours a day, and are complete couch potatoes, especially Stretch, who will grab any opportunity to literally sneak a snooze on the couch. Stretch occasionally will sleep in such a way that the circulation to one of his legs gets reduced, so he wakes up with pins and needles, and screams in confusion until the feeling comes back…it’s very surprising to everyone around him. Brooke will do zoomies of joy when she gets to go out to the beach or run in a big open space, and apparently featured on the cover of a greyhound calendar. She also gets feisty and will talk back when she’s told to go lie down.
