Oriental Rongotai Rugby Club
JUBILEE CUP CHAMPIONS 2011, 2023
"Once an Orie, always an Orie"
Oriental FC - Established in 1888 and following several amalgamations, Oriental Rongotai was formed in 1969. Situated at The Polo Grounds on Park Road in Miramar, Oriental Rongotai enjoys strong links with community schools, Rongotai College and Scots College.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. (1 Chronicles 16:34).
Merry Christmas to you all.
We pray that you all have a safe and enjoyable one. For those travelling near or far, may God’s travelling mercies be upon you all.
Christmas hits different for us all, and for all different reasons. Let us also remember those who have been called to be with our Father. Remember the reason for the season - It’s not what’s under the tree that matters, it’s who’s gathered around it.
Alofa tele atu from our family to yours

It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of former Premier Lock Papali’i Grant Percival.
Grant was an integral part in the rebirth of Ories in the 80s with his line out ability, and possessed great rugby skills well before his time. Grant had the uncanny ability to injure more of his team mates than the opposition, when he hit rucks with his flailing long arms and high knee action. He was a dynamic player but an even greater teammate and friend.
An airline pilot, video store owner (Miramar VideoEzy), business owner in Samoa, an Ories family member but more importantly a great father, grandfather and loving husband.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Taulapapa Vaina, Lloyd, Damien, Janina, Grant Jr and the entire family. Amuia ē fa’anoanoa auā e fa’amāfanafanaina i latou e le Atua.
Ia Manuia tele lou malaga Papali’i Grant Stephen Percival.

In addition to his Jubilee and HD Morgan Cups winners medals, as well as World Rugby's Player of the Year, has added NZ Rugby's top prize (Kelvin R Tremain Memorial Player of the Year) and All Blacks Player of the Year to his ever-growing list of outstanding achievements.

On September 23, a dream came to fruition when our sister was blessed with the opportunity to play her first international game for the . A few weeks later, in Hermanus (South Africa), she made her test debut off the bench against South Africa.
This week, that dream keeps on giving when Sinead makes her run-on (starting) test debut, in Stellenbosh (South Africa), against USA.
Well done Sinead on your efforts to get to where you are. Your commitment, dedication and determination is second to none.

Our Y5 Magpies traveled to Hawkes Bay over the weekend to take part in the junior rugby community festival. What an experience for our kids and families to travel together, connect and grow, away from our little corner of the world.
Our weekend started on Saturday night with a “Black&white” party organised by our parents at the Kennedy Park Resort, followed by the team enjoying the heated pools and play area. The night was capped off by heading into the theatre to watch our Ories man, Ardie, run the AB’s out!
Sunday morning was all business - Slip, slop, slap to Play 4 games in the burning ☀️ of Taradale; the Magpie spirit of THE O was on display.
We met some old timers who were super excited to meet the team, share stories of their time at Ories, and celebrated the clubs most recent Jubilee Cup victory 🙌
We won 3/4 games, but who’s counting 🤷🏽♂️😂
That concluded things in Hawkes Bay and it was time to hit the road. We had an ice cream break at Memorial Park in Palmerston North and dinner at Carls Jnr. Overall we had an amazing time away. A priceless time.
Thank you for your support through our fundraisers (sausage sizzle & disco). It wouldn’t have been possible without your support, love and prayers 🤗
Also shout out to Bruce, Lola & the Ories Junior Committee for making this possible, as well as Ardie Savea One New Zealand for sponsoring the team and gifting the kids with Warriors jerseys - “Up the Wahs”!
