Night Flower
The Night Flower is a tucked away cocktail bar offering low lit discretion.
A celebration and a farewell for Night Flower
Kia ora Friends,
Sometime in 2017 Gevan, Aaron, Shaun and I got together and started sanding the floor in preparation for fitout. We had a shared dream, a shoestring budget and a lot of love for each other and the people we were building a space for. We tiled, we sanded, we swore more than a little at the mistakes and grinned like the fools we were at the successes in building a physical space. To all the people that helped and lent their expertise to the build we are eternally grateful, thank you.
Once we opened the door the real building began, friendships, learning and filling a space with the aroha that would become a place for our guests to enjoy.
Since then we have had one adventure after another, meeting and working with some very special people and making a lot of new friendships along the journey and deepening the bonds of those that were with us at the start. We would like to thank all of you for making Night Flower the beautiful and inclusive place it is and has been. You have allowed us to cater to beautiful, sweet and caring people, to create a space that refuses bullying or thoughtless behaviour and instead surrounded us with friends.
That Wellington and our visitors from all over have allowed and even encouraged a place such as Night Flower to exist has been a privilege, six fantastic years with you all, Thank you.
We have decided to be open one more month, one month in which to celebrate the friendships made and the knowledge shared, to look after your community and to recognise the wonderful Whānau behind the bar.
With that said, come in and enjoy a drink, help us celebrate one hell of a journey and enjoy a space made with you in mind. We will be open for another month to celebrate Night Flower and share the aroha with you the people that make it special.
Drop in and celebrate with Francisco and the crew that make our place special
Ngā mihi nui,
Renwick, Aaron, Shaun and Gevan
Jack Frost has stretched its wicked fingers into our streets once more, an announcement of Winter hours arrives as we mourn the summers rays on the deck. Fear not for the Night Flower is at its finest, warm, dark and intimate. Let us warm your whiskers with a Whiskey Old Fashioned and a kind word.
Bamboo Cocktail
It is widely held that Louis Eppinger - Grand Hotel Yokohama, Japan 1890s invented the cocktail
It was in fact credited in 1886 to a “mysterious Englishman”.
This cocktail like so many others was lost to the wash of time but thanks in main to the cataloguing done by the Library of Congress we know it shows up pre September 1886 and was all the rage through the Americas and Europe.
Not for everybody and a taste curiously reminiscent of chewing on wet bamboo, this refreshing cocktail has a fan base around the world.
“I find myself coming back for another with a little too much frequency” - R.B
“Not really my cup of tea” - A.S
Fino Sherry, Dry Vermouth, House made bitters, house made orange bitters
Served straight up

You flirts! We have been nominated for "Outstanding Cocktail Experience" beside three fabulous bars. In fact all the finalists in every catagory are people and places to admire, a big shout out to all of you! 🥰
Our Charlie has deserted us for foreign climes, her somewhat ambitious singing and loose approach to faithful lyric recall can never be replaced… Thankfully (Miss you Charlie)
The Night Flower is a nocturnal creature and specialises in faithfully recreating historic tipples and the history surrounding them. Any potential candidate for the role will share a love of cocktails, history, research and a passion for being behind the stick and sharing that love with our guests.
We have either a Full time or a part-time role available on our flexible roster. Specific hours to be discussed.
At Night Flower. We all take turns at different roles, changing things up and sharing experience. We are happy to train the right person and experience is definitely a bonus. Late closes are on the table during the weekend.
As a new member of Night Flower we expect the fresh human to be flexible in learning new techniques and ideas, this is done in a supportive and co-operative environment.
With half of our crew off, we've had to make the extremely tough call to close tonight and Sunday.
Stay safe xx
Beautiful people,
Welcome to the weird that is 2022. Due to the current invasion of eels that infests Wellington we will be operating under reduced hours. We want to look after our Whānau and aid in their battle against eels of all stripe.
We will be open Tues - Sunday.
Aroha x
The peeps that make the drinks and dim the lights.
Why hello there...
Our incredibly talented barback/bartender/monster on dispense/family/you name it has left to become a well paid and well appreciated Doctor and contributer to greater society.
With such incredible talent wasted in the field of sewing people back together and soothing fevered brow, we are on the hunt for another suitably fantastic human (hopefully without aspirations involving scalpels).
If such a human could perhaps be you feel free to DM us and let the wooing begin.
A rare sighting of the greater Night Flower Falernum Elf in action. This normally nocturnal creature is rarely seen during daylight.
25th April, beautiful humans we will be closed early at 11pm in observance of liqour laws and the poor confused peoples tomorrow is dedicated to...
