BAGUIO CITY ACTIVATES DISASTER ACTION CENTER IN ANTICIPATION OF TYPHOON ENTENG 🌩️

In preparation for Typhoon Enteng and the enhanced habagat, Mayor Benjamin Magalong has reactivated the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Action Center. The city is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents.

MAYOR REACTIVATES DISASTER ACTION CENTER FOR TYPHOON 'ENTENG,' HABAGAT

Mayor Benjamin Magalong yesterday (Sept. 1, 2024) reactivated the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management action center to coordinate preparations and response measures for typhoon "Enteng" and the resulting southwest monsoon (habagat).

Although no typhoon signal has been raised, he said the city has to prepare for heavy rains due the enhanced habagat.

Forecasts showed that heavy rainfall may be experienced starting 3 p.m. today (Sept. 2, 2024).

The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction were directed to activate their emergency operation centers, monitor their areas of responsibility and provide emergency response and advise those loving in flood and landslide prone areas to do preemptive evacuation.

The Smart City Command Center will be on blue alert status to coordinate frontline actions.

The mayor directed the General Services Office (GSO) to advise residents to refrain from bringing out garbage beginning 10 a.m. today to prevent scattering of wastes that may result to flooding at the City Camp basin.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) will ensure that relief goods and the various evacuation centers are ready whenever needed.

The City Engineering Office (CEO) and City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO), apart from conducting the rapid damage assessement and needs analysis (RDANA) will be on hand to monitor the city lagoon and other waterways and do clearing operations and rescue operations when needed. They have also ordered contractors of ongoing constructions in the city to make sure that their materials are secured so that these will not contribute in the clogging of waterways or be obstacles in thoroughfares.

The City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) will inspect and clear tree branches thst pose danger to life and property.

The City Health Services Office (CHSO) will activate all Health Emergency Response Teams and ensure availability of district health centers for medical emergencies.


The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and the Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) will ensure peace and order and will serve as first responders and augmentation to rescue and evacuation teams.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) will ensure delivery of emergency response to fire incidents, medical and rescue.

Reserve units from the Armed Forces of the Philippines were requested to preposition equipment and detail personnel to mobilization area and operation centers when necessary.

Anacleto Street will now be open to motor vehicles, a change made in collaboration with the City's Traffic and Transportation authorities to help ease congestion along General Luna - Assumption Road.

UB HOSTS FIBA WOMEN'S WORLD CUP PRE-QUALIFIERS! 👌🏼

was honored to host the FIBA Women's World Cup Pre-Qualifiers, who held their training camp at our Cardinals Gym. Led by UB alumna and former Lady Cardinals player Coach Hazel Yambot, the team prepared for their upcoming matches in Kigali, Rwanda.

During their stay, the FIBA team played several tune-up games against our men's basketball team, the CCDC Admirals. These matches provided valuable experience for both teams and showcased the skill and determination of the FIBA players.
