As we commemorate the 41st death anniversary of our former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr. on August 21, let us honor his meaningful contributions and courage in serving the Filipino people.

Please be advised that in accordance with Proclamation No. 665 series of 2024 from Malacañang Palace, the observance of Ninoy Aquino Day has been moved from August 21 to August 23, 2024.

LOOK: The previous administration of the University Student Government - CDO has officially handed over the necessary documents to the new administration.

The event was attended by former USG officers Kathleen Mae Paid, Angelicah Tuble, Norlaisa Dimaporo, and their moderator, Engr. Antonio-Abdu Sami M. Magomnang, as well as the newly elected USG officers, Rave Arao and Clark Tagalog.

The turnover ceremony formalized the transfer of office and signatories of the USG-CDO, marking the first day of office for the Arao-Tagalog administration.

The legislative council of the highest governing body just had its 𝟮𝗡𝗗 𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗯𝗹𝗮𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 to deliberate on various matters, prominently among them being the membership collection fee.

This significant session transpired on the 𝟭𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮??, facilitated through the 𝘃𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁.

In a landmark move, Yul Jhon O. Jaranilla, President of the Student Council of Information Technology and Computing (SCITC), and Arvie C. Manaiz, President of the Federation of Accredited Extracurricular Student Organizations (FAESO), have jointly introduced the very first bill in the Fifth Congress. The bill, "𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗣 𝗖𝗗𝗢 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗚𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗕𝗬-𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗦," aims to address existing loopholes, inconsistencies, and usher in a unified governance framework for all accredited student organizations within the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Cagayan de Oro campus.

The Amendment of the USTP CDO University Student Government Constitution and By-Laws (USG CBL), is introduced to address critical issues within the existing governance framework of the USTP CDO University Student Government (USG) and to enhance the structure of student organization governance within USTP CDO. This has been made through the guidance of the former USG President, Mateo Julio Gervise.

One of the fundamental objectives of this bill is 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘆-𝗟𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 (𝗖𝗕𝗥𝗖) comprising carefully selected individuals who have undergone a rigorous screening process. This committee will be tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of the existing USG CBL to identify and propose amendments to rectify the identified shortcomings.

President Jaranilla and President Manaiz expressed their commitment to ensuring that the proposed amendments will lead to a more accountable and responsive student governance system. They believe that fostering transparency and equitability will not only empower student leaders but also contribute to the overall development of a united and thriving university community.

The student body has selected its moderator for the Academic Year 2023-2024. 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗼-𝗔𝗯𝗱𝘂 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗶 𝗠. 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗺𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗴, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗗, has been chosen for this role. With a 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙 as the 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 last 2018, he possesses excellent organizational skills and a wealth of leadership expertise. Currently, he is a faculty under the Mechanical Engineering Department in the university. Also, he is the Head of Center for Biomass Energy.
