Today, August 30, we celebrate 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐃𝐚𝐲 under R.A. No. 11699, in honor of the father of Philippine journalism, Marcelo H. del Pilar, who wrote under the pen name "Plaridel." He played a crucial role in journalism and the quest for Philippine independence through his courageous and reform-driven writing.

Raise your pens and spread the truth because every voice counts, and a free press guarantees that all perspectives are heard and the truth will come to light.

May this day also remind us to give tribute to all of our fearless journalists, who are dedicated to seeking and uncovering the truth and are relentless in serving the community with impartiality and justice. Their role as the 4th estate of the nation will remain inviolable and indispensable.

𝓓𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓖𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓵𝓮 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓮𝓻𝓼,

It appears that you have made your acquaintance with the dazzling jewels of the past. Then, be warned, the door to shine among them grows even narrower, so that even your Lady has nothing left to do but remind you to not waste precious moments. 𝙄𝙣 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙖 𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙌𝙪𝙚𝙚𝙣'𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙖 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚. The astute will no doubt act swiftly, for it is only for those who do not misspend time who may capture the Queen's expensive attention.

Let me repeat myself, dear readers: 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙖 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮 remains until the search for the diamonds of the season concludes. And I would rather see you expose yourselves to society than let your names be forever locked among the unknown.

𝐂𝐍𝐔𝐰𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐉𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭

𝓓𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓖𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓵𝓮 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓮𝓻𝓼,

I have awoken from my slumber, and it seems that there are still those grappled with uncertainty and hesitance. As such, allow our Majesty, the Queen, to introduce you to her most precious jewels of the past waters. These illustrious icons have left a mark upon our hearts. Their stories and achievements serve as a beacon of inspiration. May their legacy guide you, and may you, in turn, become the radiant jewels of this new chapter.

Come one, come all, to the 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐍𝐔𝐰𝐚𝐭. Bring forth the biscuits and tea as we make room for the ever-wondrous art of writing. Yet, dear readers, let it be known that within these walls, we do not merely write—we seek the truth with the same keenness as this lady does. As I once said, “𝒢𝑜𝓈𝓈𝒾𝓅 𝒶𝓈 𝐼 𝓂𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉, 𝒷𝓊𝓉 𝐼 𝒶𝓁𝓌𝒶𝓎𝓈 𝓉𝑒𝓁𝓁 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓉𝓇𝓊𝓉𝒽. 𝒜𝓃𝒹 𝐼 𝒸𝒶𝓃𝓃𝑜𝓉 𝓉𝑜𝓁𝑒𝓇𝒶𝓉𝑒 𝒶 𝓁𝒾𝑒.”. ✨

Thus, allow me to offer you my vow: 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝑵𝑼𝒘𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒚, 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒃𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒎𝒔, 𝒏𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒘𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈. 🩵🖋️

𝓓𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓖𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓵𝓮 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓮𝓻𝓼,

Another season has commenced, and in this momentous shift, your presence is highly anticipated at this grandiose affair.

Her Majesty, the Queen herself, together with 𝐂𝐍𝐔𝐰𝐚𝐭, is now on their annual quest to search for the diamond, or, dare I say, the 𝒹𝒾𝒶𝓂𝑜𝓃𝒹𝓈 𝑜𝒻 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓈𝑒𝒶𝓈𝑜𝓃. 💎

Such a prestigious title is only bestowed on the rarest, most precious, and most accomplished. Yet, let it be known that the Queen has raised the demands to another level. Those who dare to take on the competition must also be brave enough to accept the responsibilities that accompany the title.

If you believe that you are who we are searching for, then make haste and apply for the esteemed positions:

●𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝

Those who are familiar with Her Majesty are well aware of her discerning particularism and unbending standards. One misstep, and you would find yourself hiding from the eyes. But, my dear readers, you need not to worry, for I am here to guide you on this competitive quest. With my ever-attentive observations and far-reaching ears, I have carefully crafted a list of qualifications and future duties for your guidance.

Stride wisely, dear readers, and perhaps you will receive the honor of being chosen as the 𝒹𝒾𝒶𝓂𝑜𝓃𝒹𝓈 𝑜𝒻 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓈𝑒𝒶𝓈𝑜𝓃. Start your journey through this Google Form link:

The hall was filled with the energy of excited freshmen students, faculty members, and organizational officers, all eager to celebrate the new academic year.

The KASIKAS council hosted a memorable event for the pioneering batch, filled with fun activities and insightful discussions, which surely fueled everyone's enthusiasm to face the months of learning ahead. Outside the hall, the organizations under the department showcased their booths, each reflecting on their respective themes and offering unique activities for the normalites. Freshmen had the chance to meet their seniors, explore the organizations under each program, and enjoy the creative booth offerings around them.

As promised, the CNUwat organization presented a variety of offerings, ranging from affordable photocards and stickers to a collection of inspirational messages written by BACOMM - Journalism seniors, exclusive to the freshmen. The manifestation wall was also filled with heartfelt manifestations and wishes, adding more spirit to the event.

This sentiment perfectly captures the spirit on 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, when the first-year students of the program 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦 were enthusiastically welcomed through a virtual orientation conducted by the officers of CNUwat. The event was chaired by 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐠𝐭𝐚𝐢, Vice Mayor - Internal, and 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐳𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐲, Finance Committee - Treasurer.

"𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝑪𝒆𝒃𝒖 𝑵𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒍 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒄𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒍𝒆𝒅𝒈𝒆; 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔, 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒆𝒓𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒓𝒔. He delivered inspiring yet realistic lessons urging the freshmen to embrace the journey as they step into a foreign environment.

𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐨, Head Captionist of CNUwat and the host of the orientation highlighted the key topics to be discussed as the event progressed. The "Let's Get to Know Each Other" session then took off, where everyone involved warmly welcomed each other's passions and interests.

To satisfy the curiosity of the freshmen, 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐉𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐳𝐞𝐥 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨—Layout Artist of CNUwat—shared a list providing a clearer view of what the BA COMM-J program has to offer. This was then followed by a thorough overview of the subject courses, organizations under the Department of Communication and Media Studies, and bloc officer positions discussed by 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐉𝐚𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢ñ𝐨𝐬, 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐲𝐚 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨, respectively. Before the event concluded, 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐆𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐥, guest speaker, and last year's CNUwat mayor discussed Aninag and encouraged the newcomers to join the official student publication under the DCMS.

To further add inspiration to the event, 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨, Creative Director, together with 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐠𝐭𝐚𝐢 delivered short speeches about their own freshmen experiences, providing the newcomers with valuable tips and advice as they forge into the vast opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Concluding the event, 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐠𝐭𝐚𝐢 expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the officials who made the event a success, as well as to the freshmen and guests for their time and participation.

The entire CNUwat committee is highly grateful for all of your guidance throughout our ventures this school year. From the many rounds of going back and forth to OSA to the chasing of signatories, words cannot sum up how indebted we are to your sacrifices. 🩵

Your leadership and commitment to excellence is something that transcends beyond the organization, and we cannot wait to see you reach greater heights in life.

Above all, we thank you for being an amazing mayor, for nurturing the talents of our fellow officers, and for being a mother, a sister, and a friend to everyone (jima ba…) 🌷

The world is your runway and may you keep strutting down with resilience, compassion, and tenacity. 💋

HBD ulit. Stay ka muna dito okeh? Okeh.

Dog days are over!

The cosmos has come together to rejoice at this day, to cover them in confetti kisses and to spread stardust in their trail. They stand confidently and shout, “𝗠𝘂-𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗻𝗮 𝗷𝘂𝗱 𝗸𝗼!”

Today, we celebrate four of Aninag’s brilliant minds:

Jonnavie Villa (Editor-In-Chief), Magna Cum Laude
Kristin de Dios (Associate Editor), Summa Cum Laude
Denise Codis (Feature Editor), Magna Cum Laude
Claudine Flores (Sports Editor), Magna Cum Laude

You have grown in ways you never could imagine, carrying with you the memories, the connections, and the lessons that you have taken throughout this journey. Every step of the way, from that first all-nighter spent struggling with an impossible task to now, going up to the stage to celebrate what you have done, has been evidence of your hard work and commitment.

Through late nights and early mornings, through setbacks and triumphs, this is a moment you all deserved.🙌

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝘄𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀!! The Journalism family and the larger Department of Communication and Media Studies is so proud of all that you have accomplished. May you always bring the crimson and gold values in your new adventure with steadfast pride!🎓
