𝐒𝐓𝐎. 𝐍𝐈𝐍̃𝐎, 𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐇 𝐂𝐎𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐎 - In a significant stride toward enhancing the adolescents' health and development, the Municipality of Sto. Niño proudly launched its Information and Service Delivery Network for Adolescent Health and Development (ISDN4AHD), locally known as DAPITAY. The event, held at 9:30 AM at the Open Gymnasium on the Municipal Ground, marked the culmination of months of meticulous planning and dedication, guided by the Commission on Population and Development - Regional Office XII (CPD XII).

DAPITAY, which stands for Delivering Adolescents' Protective/Preventive Information and Trainings and Accessible Services in Yielding Batang Sto. Niño Program, aims to provide comprehensive and youth-friendly health and development services. This initiative is set to revolutionize the way young people in Sto. Niño access crucial health information and services, ensuring a healthier and more informed youth community.

The launch event witnessed a substantial turnout, with attendees including ISDN members, local government unit (LGU) officials, teachers, and students of Sto. Niño. Hon. Sulpicio F. Villalobos, the Municipal Mayor, delivered an inspiring welcome message, emphasizing the importance of the program for the municipality's youth.

"We are committed to fostering an environment where our young people can thrive and access the resources they need for their health and development," Mayor Villalobos stated.

Following the mayor's address, Ms. Melanie C. Chiva, the Provincial Population Officer of South Cotabato, and Ms. Desiree Concepcion U. Garganian, the Regional Director of CPD XII, also shared their insightful messages, highlighting the collaborative efforts that made the DAPITAY program possible.

RD Garganian, in her message, urged everyone to act now and use their resources collectively to make a significant impact on the lives of young people in Sto. Niño, ensuring their holistic development and future success. “Now is our time to act. Not yesterday, not tomorrow.” she said.

Mr. Vincent F. Abay, RM, the ISDN Focal, provided an informative overview of the ISDN Program, detailing its objectives and the expected impact on adolescent health and development. Ms. Crispy C. Arves, Population Program Officer IV of PPO South Cotabato, also presented the various AHD programs and activities that they are conducting to respond to the need of young people for comprehensive AHD information.

The event was also highlighted with the ceremonial ribbon-cutting for Sto. Niño's new Teen Center, symbolizing the program's official commencement. Attendees were then given a tour of the Teen Center, offering a firsthand look at the facilities and services available for the young people in the locality.

The launch of the DAPITAY program represents a pivotal moment for Sto. Niño, promising a brighter and healthier future for its young residents. The local government, in collaboration with CPD XII and other stakeholders, remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the health and development of the municipality's adolescents and youth through innovative and inclusive initiatives like DAPITAY.

𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗞𝗶𝗰𝗸-𝗢𝗳𝗳 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

In line with the celebration of the Family Planning month, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Sarangani in partnership with the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) XII, DOH-CHD XII, FPOP and DKT, conducted a final screening and provided actual Bilateral Tubal Ligation (BTL) services, to 11 eligible women seeking long-term family planning method, last August 1, 2024 at the Sarangani Provincial Hospital of the said province.

Prior to the actual BTL procedure, all the clients underwent pre-screening assessment which involved family planning counseling, an OB-GYN evaluation for cardiopulmonary clearance, and laboratory tests to determine their eligibility for the procedure, last July 23, 2024.

CPD XII provided logistical support by supplying medical items which was used during the procedure.

Furthermore, the Provincial Health Office and Sarangani Provincial Hospital will conduct its 2nd round of BTL Screening, as they plan to perform the service to the eligible clients, within the remaining quarters of the year.

𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫-𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐇𝐃 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐒𝐄 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐎𝐂𝐒𝐊𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐍 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧

CPD XII, in partnership with the Department of Education XII, recently conducted two training sessions for educators focusing on Gender-Responsive AHD and CSE. These sessions took place at the Greenleaf Hotel and SunCity Suites in General Santos City on July 16-19, 2024, and July 23-24, 2026, bringing together Subject Area Teachers in ESP, Science, MAPEH, Health, AP, and Guidance Counselors.

The training was designed to give participants a fundamental understanding of CSE, introduce educators to important messages and resources on CSE topics, highlight the importance of integrating CSE with Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) programs, and help in developing practical strategies to establish and sustain CSE-ARH programs in schools.

This initiative is a crucial aspect of CPD’s Adolescent Health and Development Program, addressing critical issues like adolescent pregnancies, STIs/HIV, and sexual and gender-based violence in the SOCSKSARGEN region.

The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) XII conducted an Orientation-Workshop on the Development and Operationalization of Local Population and Development programs for five selected LGUs in Sultan Kudarat, participated by representatives from LGU Columbio, Isulan, Palimbang, President Quirino, and Senator Ninoy Aquino, held on July 23-26, 2024 at the Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City.

The said workshop aimed for the LGU stakeholders (MPDO, MSWDO, MHO, LPOs) to develop their local population and development program that responds to the persistent population issues and challenges in their respective localities.

The three-day workshop covered the discussion on the Philippine Population and Development- Plan of Action 2023-2028, Sultan Kudarat Provincial Situationer, and POPDEV Policy Context, as well as workshops on filling the local data on POPDEV indicators, vision setting, situational analysis, program goals and objectives, and identification of local POPDEV strategies and activities fit to their context.
