Last Thursday, September 21, 2023 the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation office conducted a General Assembly, Farewell Activity and a bit distribution of sports equipments for the Sangguniang Kabataan Officials of Iligan City.

Also, DILG Iligan City Director Ma'am Maria Maida Daniot discussed the Creation of the 2023 BSKE Monitoring Teams and the Conduct of Monitoring Activities before and after the October 30, 2023 BSKE. She also mentioned the Initial and Final Inventory and Turnover of SK Properties.

The International Youth Day is celebrated by the youth from the different parts of the world every year on August 12. As part of its commitment to the development and welfare of young Iliganons, the City of Iligan, in cooperation with Iligan City Youth Development Office and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Iligan City headed by SK Pederasyon President Councilor Emily Q. Hynson and ICYDO Focal Person Nora Fe Escorial spearheaded the celebration of the International Youth Day with Mangrove Tree Growing today at Bayug Island, Hinaplanon, Iligan City. The activity was actively participated by the youth and SK Officials of different barangays in Iligan City.

The activity was set to raise awareness among the youth of Iligan to certain causes especially the call to a greener transition to a a more environmentally sustainable world. Indeed, the youth is our hope for a better tomorrow.

The world today is recognizing the vital need to undertake on a green transition. The theme of the International Youth Day 2023, “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”, is a call to the youth to partake on this green shift towards an environmentally sustainable and climate-friendly world. This emphasizes the paramount role of the youth in the successful transition towards a greener world.

The City of Iligan, in its commitment to support and conduct activities specifically intended for the development of the youth, is going to hold a 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 on 12th August 2023 at 5:30AM in Bayug Island, Hinaplanon, Iligan City in coordination with Iligan City Youth Development Office with the focal person Ms. Nora Fe Escorial and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Iligan City headed by SK Pederasyon President Councilor Emily Q. Hynson. This program aims to promote environmental awareness among the youth of Iligan City.

The 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗼 𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝗻, a month-long celebration in the month of August, is led by the different barangays in Iligan City. 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗼 𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝗻 will conclude with 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗕𝗢 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 which will showcase the talents and skills of the youth of the city in various activities and will be participated by the 44 barangays of Iligan. It is intended to develop sportsmanship, unity, and good fellowship among young Iliganons.

The office of SK Federation of Iligan City was so delighted that this prestigious university had created such idea of conducting this project.

With the partnership of the Department of Political Science of MSU-IIT headed by their Department Chairperson, Professor Elaine M. Baulete, to the Project Leader of this community extension program Assistant Professor John Gieveson E. Iglupas, the first objective has successfully conducted last June 24, 2023 held at the 5th floor, CASS New Building, MSU-IIT.

The needs assessment aims to identify the specific needs and challenges faced by the SK Officials in their five years of service and their respective roles and responsibilities. The results of this data will be used and will greatly benefit our successors for the newly elected SK Officials of Iligan City after the BSKE on October 2023.

With this initiative by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), SK Chairmans have been informed of what they may possibly provide their constituents in their remaining time in service.

This conference has truly opened more opportunity to their constituents in each barangay.
