The MSU IIT - Kalilang Traditional Music Ensemble will hold its Annual Concert this November 15, 2024!

A Kandatu is a Meranaw tradition of choosing and bestowing the title of a Datu onto a worthy individual. Origins of this practice can be traced back to the era of the Lanao Sultanate, when the datu system was the typical form of governance. Today, it remains as an important part of Meranaw cultural heritage and tradition.

This November 15, 2024, the Kalilang Traditional Music Ensemble will be proud to present a rendition of the Meranaw Datu Enthronement: the Kandatu!

Catch us at the MSU-IIT CED Amphitheater; the program will start at 4 pm. Due to the limited seats, we encourage all interested audiences to come as soon as possible, as you will be in for the performance of a lifetime. Do not let this chance go!

LOOK | In Resolution No. 249, S. 2024 issued during its 267th meeting on July 24, 2024, the MSU Board of Regents demanded that an organization called “IPAG PH” stop using the name “IPAG” as this is similar to the name of the MSU-IIT IPAG, the resident cultural group of MSU’s autonomous campus in Iligan, the Iligan Institute of Technology or MSU-IIT.

LOOK | The Center extends its warmest congratulations to the Octava Choral Society | 8va and its Artistic Director Engr. Ernesto "Bajo" C. Zaldua, Jr. for besting 6 other choral groups in the recent Sr. San Miguel Choral Festival held on September 22, 2024 at the La Salle Academy Gym, Iligan City.

The Choral Festival was done as part of the celebration of Iligan's Diyandi Festival. The contest piece was a local traditional piece "San Miguel" with music composed and arranged by Sir Frank A. Englis.
