There's hope.

Dostarlimab, an experimental cancer drug, appears to have cured every patient in its clinical trial in the US.

After taking Dostarlimab for six months, the 12 patients with re**al cancer entered remission, according to a study in The New England Journal of Medicine.

After the patients stopped the medication, the cancer had vanished, undetectable by physical exam, endoscopy, PET or MRI scans.

Unlike chemo drugs, there were no significant side-effects reported.

“This is the first time this has happened in the history of cancer,” said oncologist Dr. Luis Diaz, the paper's lead author.

Dostarlimab unmasks cancer cells so that the immune system can identify and destroy them.

PGH bracing for possible surge amid Omicron threat – Manila Bulletin The Philippine General Hospital (PGH), the largest coronavirus disease (COVID-19) referral hospital in the country, is prepared for the possibility of a surge in infections following the threat of the Omicron variant.

Dr. Jonas Del Rosario said the PGH, the country’s biggest COVID-19 referral facility, currently houses only 54 patients, the least in more than a year.

Global studies point to the serious vulnerability of youth, particularly students who are experiencing extreme stress because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The overall increase in screen time can distort perspectives leading to unrealistic expectations, the desire for instant gratification and the loss of control over day-to-day activities that were once enjoyable: sports, parties, gatherings, etc.

In this episode of STOP COVID DEATHS, we will take a closer look at the mental health of youth during the pandemic with Professor Emeritus in Psychiatry, UP PGH, Dr. Cornelio G. Banaag, Jr. - known as the father of child psychiatry in the Philippines- who will deliver the main presentation on the topic. This will be followed by reactions from Dr. Lourdes Medina, a practicing clinical psychologist who specializes in trauma therapy and Ms. Dina Paterno, President and Co-Founder of the Beacon International School, who will provide a perspective from an educator.

➡ MANILA, Philippines — Government nurses still do not have reason to celebrate despite a recent ruling of the Supreme Court (SC) mandating a P30,531 minimum month salary for them.

In an interview with The Chiefs, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said the salary adjustment was not factored in when the Department of Health (DOH) submitted its proposed budget for 2020.

Because of this, it is unlilkely for the increase to be implemented in the coming year.

“I did not really know when the SC was rendering its decison so when we proposed (the) budget – in fact our budget for 2020 was reduced – so quite frankly, we did not include that in the proposed budget of DOH,” he noted.

Duque maintained that implementing the wage hike is actually the call of Congress which can pass a law to generate funds for the increase.

The health chief, however, assured nurses that the DOH will include the wage adjustments when they propose the budget for 2021.
